Granada de Isaac Albeniz

Hola a todos. By the challenge of transcriptions I wanted already to begin with a practice diary on Granada. NOW I DO !!! I did today two recordings, one of only sound (uploaded in the Week 4 of challenge Spanish music) and this video to have it for me also as a reference to continue studying and hopefully making my playing always more and more "easy"

I'm t is very nice watching you play this piece. This one seems even better than your "Spain" posting. If they are the same, maybe seeing how relaxed your playing is performing this very challenging piece. Great job!!!

Nora Torres-Nagel The beginning was so calming to listen to and you did a very fine job with the somewhat straining barred chords and shifts! I especially enjoyed the balance between the melody in the bass and the accompaniment on top!

What are your next steps for that piece? 🕺

I would recommend to take special care of the last notes within a bar, especially before a big shift you tend to accentuate the last eighth-note a bit. That is super common and happened to me a lot as well, especially in pieces like the Sonatina by Torroba which is full of shifts!

    • Martin muchas gracias for hearing me so carefully Martin! It is absolutely true what you have noted  and me did not! I have the tendency to increase the energy in the last note or chord of the armony. I am not yet playing with full automatismus, still thinking in the technique specially in the second part where there are so many melodic beautifull contrasts between bass notes and ??? (graves y agudas).

It is also clear where I have to continue working with deliberate practice although I am doing it since a couple of months 🤨(I have began to read Granada in June 2021). And I have changed the digitation a couple of times.

      So my aim is :

      -automatismus

-a sure and clean LH to be free for working the dynamics, nuances and contrasts of the melodies

You have given me motivation with your commentary. Together with Recuerdos....playing so long the same pieces....it begins to be hard to maintain the motivation and don't give up. But for this also I have begun a practice diary with Granada also, to push me my self.

      Gracias de nuevo😎

Bravo Nora! Here there is the same issue than Cadiz, how to balance the melody with the rhythmical/sweet accompaniment, so hard ! You are doing so well. Bravo!!! Everyday better

    • Emma thank you! yes it is true, hearing you in Cadiz...I thougth also that , although in Cadiz you have almost continuosly or in a lot of parts two melodies that are both important and bellas....very difficult to find the balance.

  • I did this recording sunday evening thinking in the legatos....and the advices of Sanel and Martin in general. I am still not happy at all but I leave the video (I should have delete it!!!) to keep it for me, to compare. Any way some parts sound better but additionally I had a few ! unusual  lags! and all is very "staff" (is that german? englisch?) not relax at all....let's look at the future!

  • New recording, working all the different issues...I want to compare with the last one a few days ago...at some point I have lost the concentration...🙄. But anyway...I feel myself more relax playing it and I sing it more than before. I practice the melodies separately. Still LH makes wrong!!!!
