Re: Bach’s Prelude in D minor, BWV 999
@Derek Just tried that and if you can do the big leap to catch the Second String A then it positions you well for the second and third group of notes and makes an especially comfortable transition to…

@Nijwm Bwiswmuthiary Very nice, You have a good sound. I like your tempo and your ending. As you say, you could put in a ritardando. Good work!

Re: Bach’s Prelude in D minor, BWV 999
Here’s a look at the infamous Big Stretch in Bar 15: F Major 7th. But let’s begin at Bar 13, a Little Stretch: 4 on B, Third String; 1 on C, Second String.…

Re: Bach’s Prelude in D minor, BWV 999
@David My "no-name" score has Low E to start and F Natural at the end in Bar 23. The last two top voice notes are both D with an incidental sharp at the start of the Bar.

@Blaise Laflamme and @Jack Stewart. Both fingerings are viable. The score I follow is closer to the first version (with an indicated slur, which I daresay is not mandatory) .…

Re: Bach’s Prelude in D minor, BWV 999
A favourite part of the Prelude starts at Bar 7. The quarter-note basses descend very pleasingly: D C B Flat to A in Bar 10. Then two bars with G Sharp. LH fingering can be tricky.…

Re: Bach’s Prelude in D minor, BWV 999
The section starting at Bar 19 was tricky at first. This was because I was trying to hold on to rather difficult whole chords. Once I adopted a more 'fractional' approach, it became much easier.…

Re: Bach’s Prelude in D minor, BWV 999
@Nijwm Bwiswmuthiary The F bass note only has to last until the sixteenth note A has been played. Then E C E C can be held down with 4th finger pressure as that is the only fretting that's required…
