Re: Recording classical guitar
Do two takes. One mechanical and one rubato. Then cut and paste from the mechanical to heal errors in the rubato version. In your DAW you can slow down and speed up sections if you need to.

Re: Do you play louder when performing live?
Richard Pick was my teacher in Chicago in the mid 60s. His method was to play every note with a straight finger on the manner of a flamenco player. Absolutely no free stroke.

Re: Asturias' notation - part of the melody on the g string?
Unless the issue is playing an open string versus a fretted note. If you don’t want to carry the tone over to the next note and can’t damp the open string easily opt for the fretted note.

Re: Asturias' notation - part of the melody on the g string?
One of the things I’ve learned from Tonebase is that there are many ways to Skin the “catgut”. Do what seems most natural for you. A lot of Segovia and Villa Lobos pieces emphasize playing up and…

Re: Navigating the Score and Strings: A Discussion for tonebuddies with Bifocals and Progressive Lenses 🎸👓🎼
Progressive lenses don’t solve the problem. Differentiating between 1 and 4 or between 2 and 3 can be very challenging. I end up writing them in below the staff. Same for string numbers.

Re: Ana Vidovic: Artist Spotlight & Q&A!
@Pase I was doing recuerdos pami. I tried Ana’s pmim and it works much better. Tone on all notes much more even. The a finger being weaker hurt that.

Check Wikipedia. The version I grew up with on top of a pizza, credited to Dick Biondi of WLS radio in Chicago, the station locked in on my transistor radio when I was a young teen.

The g Sharp and g natural alternate throughout the piece as the keys modulate. 133-144 E to A to D to G to B to Am. Keeps changing after as well.
