Request to explore Thierry Tisserand music

I am adding links two Thierry Tisserand compositions. The French composer has many samples of his music available at youtube. It is my hope that we could explore his music in live forums and/or as lessons. His scores are enjoyable to play and help me with my rhythm pace.

All comments appreciated.

  • Stephen Holland I know his name but nothing about his works, thank you for sharing your interest for this composer. Do you have any favorites or recommendation from his compositions, or any performance of you to share? Speaking about french composers, I'm currently reading through some interesting Arnaud Dumond pieces, I hope to eventually share some of them in the upcoming weeks.

  • Hello Blaise,

    Thanks for the response.

I also study with Classical Guitar Corner. David Belcher has put together a good overview of Tisserand scores. He has the following list ranked to fit into the approach of levels 1 through 8. I am currently work on Kasi Mambo at level 6. I enjoy playing all of the scores. I recommend buying copies of Comme Des Chansons (three volumes, one blue, one, orange, on yellow for covers). They cover 42 scores. The music can be hard to find. However, there are a few available at Amazon. I think the new copies a bit overpriced. You can also try Strings by Mail, and the French publisher - https://www.henry-lemoine.com/en/apropos/

Here is the list from CGC.

    1 – Petite Suite

    2 – Simple Mambo

    3 – Barcarolle

4 – Comme des Etudes III

    5 – Tango Argente

    6 – Kasi Mambo

    7 – Prelude from Jazibao

    8 – Yamandou

    • Stephen Holland thank you for the suggestions Stephen, I'll take a look at this composer and if you personally want to share your progress on Kasi Mambo in your practice diary that'd be more than great!

  • Hi Blaise, I will share my Kasi Mambo soon. I struggle with rhythm at times and there is a tricky passage that needs attention. This will motivate me to work with it. There are a number of videos featuring Tisserand music at youtube. The three volumes of Commes Des Chansons each has a CD featuring the music. Interesting that it is one CD for all songs, but it appears at the end of each book. So, if you order a used copy, be sure it has the CD. I wanted to also mention that I am wanting to learn Celtic Dreams by Tisserand. Enjoy.
