Thanks all of you for the kind words and encouragement.   Ashley--you teaching has been awesome, and the members of this Tonebase group have been so inspiring with their dedicated effort, and terrific results.  This composing challenge really makes me appreciate the great masters even more. Sometimes I wonder how in the world did they think of those melodies and put it all together; and sometimes bring me to tears when listening...

Hello! A last mad rush for a last piece before it's all over!

This time I opted for the lullaby. I thought a contrast to my previous uploads might be in order.

Easy: deciding the form, which was fairly straightforward for this type of piece

Difficult: getting the notes right so the harmonies moved smoothly and were interesting enough, not to mention playable...

    Hope you like it.

Thank you so much Ashley (Ash) Lucero  for doing this for all of us! I've really enjoyed it, especially to see how you managed to get so many people starting to composing!😊👏👏👏

Oops, forgot to delete something in that last version. Here it is again.

    • Roni Glaser I don't see any difference from your previous pieces 😂

super nice work Roni, just read through it and the harmonies are so beautiful, I really like your second part starting mesure 11, the effect is just graceful 👍

Blaise Laflamme yes measure 11 ! Nice!  And harmonics like a haze - even a performer can doze off a bit 😄😴 Great!

And here's a very crude video of it. Needs lots more practice, but enough to give you an idea of what it sounds like.

Unfortunately after another unplanned child minding session didn't get chance to make a recording but I did modify my piece slightly. Latest version attached

Derek attached the mid file instead of the audio - I tried to record the mid fie via my DAW to get a better sound but didn't get it working so this is the MUsescore synth version

Well..... I could never finish/play the middle section so that is currently under construction. I recorded (very poor renditions) of the first and final sections of my Etude 1 Stravinsky Hommage. This is the first time I have ever recorded myself and it is humbling to say the lest.

I just noticed a message saying 'oops Can't upload'. So maybe I have been spared the humiliation  : ) It might have been deemed unsuitable for submission, however I suspect the files were too large.

I've just done a 'final' version of 'Dance of the Firecrests' which is playable and I've added the fingerings that I've used in case you'd like to try it. I've already started on my next piece which has the catchy (working) title of Piece 2!

Marek Tabisz Thanks Marek - look forward to trying it.. I decided to write at least one complete piece every month this year. So far I have several motifs which I guess is at least a start!
