South American composers have been on our minds lately, and what better way to sate our appetites than to peruse a list of great gig pieces by South American composers? In this live stream we will listen to numerous examples of pieces that are both beautiful and accessible for you and your prospective audience.

What are the benefits of learning music by South American (and any Latin American, for that matter!) composers? Improved rhythm reading, broadened harmonic and melodic vocabularies, gained familiarity of some of the greatest unsung (or very sung!) voices of the guitar’s repertoire, to name a few! The best part about it? It’s so fun to play!

Ashley (Ash) Lucero Thanks for your session on South American gig music. Some great suggestions. I would add that of course any of Villalobos' Preludes are good additions as well as "Campo" or "Tamboriles" by Abel Carlevaro. Finally, a super crowd pleaser is Astor Piazzolla's "Adios Nonino." Thanks again.
