i'd like more original chamber music with other instruments (gtr+vl or fl or cell or trios or quintets) and i'd like more contemporary music (but not Brouwer, Dyens or Pujol or that stuff... real contemporary)

I think this is a great and wonderful idea.

I do have some concern about it occurring so soon. With such short notice it might be difficult to schedule  time to attend. I would also think the logistics of organizing a guitar festival would require more time as well.

In any event, I am excited to see if I can attend. Probably only LA would be even possible for me this summer but I would love to go to Dusseldorf (perhaps next summer?).

  • Great idea, but I agree with Jack it would be tough to make happen within a year.

You also might want to talk to your graphics/marketing folks. The image above makes it look like it's going to be one of those mens-only retreats they have in the US where guys run around in the woods and build fires, lol. Where are Borbala Seres, Bokyung Byun, Julia Trintschuk, Ana Vidivic, Gohar Vandanyan and others who have content here? Mircea is a handsome man but he's up there three times but not Ashley, lol?

  • I have no days left this year....the planing is too short for me, I have to tell my plans in November for the following year at work. so I just have to wait what happens and if it might be possible to take part. I would love to take part in that festival......

Great idea, but I probably wouldn't be able to make it this year. Would be good if there was some way of watching/participating online

  • I agree with Ron about online participation. It's really the only way I would see myself being able to participate. I would never be able to afford the time and cost of the travel.

I agree with Ron and Eric Phillips - the only way to get broad membership participation would be to conduct the festival either wholly or partly online. We've already had here online concerts, lessons, and masterclasses, and they have been fairly successful, both for participants and audience I believe. (There are some technical issues concerning audio that need to be ironed out, but this is hardly an insurmountable problem,, surely.) So I encourage ToneBase to try something that permits attendance from the comfort of one's own home. After all, isn't that what this forum is all about?

I will be attending LA for what looks like a great opportunity. There is NOTHING like the total immersion that happens at Guitar Festivals such as these.
