About tonebase Community Concerts

tonebase Community Concerts are intimate, supportive events designed to bring our members together to share their hard work and love for music. These are not live-streamed or recorded; instead, they take place in private Zoom meetings, offering a safe and welcoming space to perform and connect.

Here’s what makes these concerts special:

  • This is a generous and supportive space where all levels are welcome.
  • Performing is an incredible way to push yourself, reflect on your progress, and grow as a musician.
  • Repertoire is completely open – choose any piece you love!
  • Memorization is not required.
  • Play select movements or even just sections of a piece – there’s no need to perform a full work.

Playing your instrument is rewarding, but sharing your music with others takes the experience to a whole new level. Join us for an inspiring, joyful event where we celebrate each other’s progress and passion for music. Let’s cheer each other on and make music together!

I am sad to miss this concert. I will be in Vietnam from Dec. 15 - Jan 5. I will try to watch in real time and will certainly watch the replay.

Oops, I just read that this event will not be recorded. I hope I have a chance to watch in real time.

Good luck to all prospective performers.

    • Jack Stewart Good luck with your trip to Vietnam, Jack! I am orignally from Hanoi Vietnam, born and raised there. Are you going to do a lot of cities and places all along Vietnam from North to South?

Khiem Nguyen Thanks, Khiem. My wife (who is Vietnamese) and I are going to Cambodia for a week, focusing on Angkor Wat. We are then going to Saigon to spend Christmas with her sister. Our daughter will meet us there. After Christmas we are going to Phong Nah ke Bang national park for a few days and then finish in Hanoi. This will be my 4th trip to Vietnam. My first trip was part of a 9 month solo bicycle trip from Hong Kong to Singapore. I spent about a month biking the length of Vietnam. I made 2 more trips with my wife and daughter. The first of those trips was with my wife's father who had not been back to Vietnam since he escaped in the mid 1970's. That was quite an emotional trip to be a part of.

My wife and daughter are going to continue in Vietnam for another 2-3 weeks traveling with her other sister and nephew.

Hi Martin. Following on Srinath's suggestion. I understand not automatically recording and posting these concerts for the comfort of the performers. However, I wonder if there is a way to record the concert and then have the performers give/ or reject permission for posting individual performances. I always enjoy seeing what others are doing, especially on the other instruments.

  • Hi, Martin, I though this would be like a pre recorded watch party, that we usually have. Performing live would be a daunting task for me. I know, we have to shed the stage fright at some point, but I'll have to mull over whether I'd be comfortable playing live. Also, I'm not sure if I can get the audio visual set up right for the zoom meeting. In any case, I really want to be a part of it, either playing or watching. So, good luck to us all.

Nijwm Bwiswmuthiary Hi Nijm! We'll have a proper Watch Party for the challenge in the New Year! I just realized I haven't set a date for that yet, but it will most likely be in the first 2 weeks of January :)

  • I’m a new member and have not had time to explore Tonebass yet.  I am in Spain for 15 days for the holidays. I’m excited to get started and hope to see the concert but will get home on the 30th (Sacramento, CA) likely too late to watch.

  • I applied for a slot for this concert. I’ll do 2 short Scottish lute pieces arranged for guitar by Maestro Matthew McAllister. I hope to record this week my ‘challenge’ pieces by Vivaldi. They’re quite ‘challenging’….
