Guarda las vacas / Luis de Narváez

    • Things you found easy:

           - holding the guitar

    • Things you found difficult:

           - to decide how to play the repetitions and how to shape the whole piece musically

Jack Stewart thank you for your Kindly words - often the easy pieces seem to be difficult at the end...

    • Olli so beautiful. We can hear and appreciate the work you put into this. Really like your interpretation. It’s one of my favorite renaissance pieces.

De Falla Homenaje Debussy update #2

This is getting closer. I still have troubles with the second half but the problems are more localized and not quite as pervasive. I guess the same is true about the first half. But the remaining halves are just fine. 😁

Sorry about the perspective, it blocks the fingerboard. I didn't notice it until now. I'll try to be more mindful.

    • Jack Stewart wow, Jack, you are really working with focus and it really shows (or better: sounds). I tried to play this piece once and was frustrated by the ‘litlle’ tricky moments , making it so hard to get it ‘clean’.  You’re  almost there! Great tone and intensity.

    • Jack Stewart That is getting really good Jack! The feel and musicality are up even higher than last time. Other than that short  final section, I think you have it down.

joosje Thanks Joosje. "...frustrated by the little tricky moments", That is it in a nutshell!! I'm getting closer to having it under my fingers, but getting my head around it is another matter.

Eric Phillips Thanks Eric. I think I still have a ways to go but it is getting better. I just recorded a better version just before the masterclass. All of the information I got from Martin and Manny before should keep me busy for a while.

  • José Ferrer – Minuet Op 12 No 3

I went back to Ferrer’s Op 12 for today’s video. Like I mentioned above, this is a set of twelve minuets dedicated to Francisco Tárrega. Unlike the very dramatic number 8 above, this one is light and dance-like.

Eric Phillips Nice Eric. As Wai stated - very sweet and delightful. You do an impressive job bringing these pieces up to a high level of performance in a very short time. Great work.

Spanish Romance (Romanza o Jeux Interdits etc.)

Hello everyone, I took two weeks of rest because the assiduous study of the preparation of the pieces for the last Concert had caused me inflammation in the tendons of the left thumb. Now everything seems to be back in place. This is my contribution to the Spanish music trip.
My approach to the piece is inspired by M° J.Feeley, M°H.Sato and M°S.Rak

ivan paolo Wow Ivan! This was really spectacular! Glad to hear your thumb is feeling better. I know what it's like to experience hand pain. Scary stuff sometimes. Man, this performance and arrangement has opened my eyes to a world of possibilities. Thank you for bringing this one to the table!
