Last minute submission. Not sure if this one's better than previous ones. Learning the guitar is not always a linear progression for me. Sometimes it's one step ahead, one step back. Still lots to work on- chord shifts, more relaxation and less pressure on LH fingers, tone, colour etc.
Thank you everyone here in the forum who're incredibly kind and generous with comments, advice and encouragement. After all, it's because of all of us that we're here,

Nijwm Bwiswmuthiary Nijwm, your tone and phrasing are beautiful in the performance. However, I think I would be careful not to add a pause at the end of each phrase unless notated in the score. For example, you add a break at the end of measure 8 which is not notated. This breaks the flow of the music. I think a slight ritardando there would be enough to separate the end of the phrase from the next.
however, your performance is quite beautiful. Great job.

Jack Stewart Thank you, Jack. Regarding the pauses, yeah, I need to be more careful. Adding ritardando is a great piece of advice. I'm still new to reading scores and I rely on YouTube recordings of pieces to get some guidance. I might have subconsciously internalised the pauses incorrectly. I'll continue to work on this piece.

Nijwm Bwiswmuthiary You are doing great on this piece. I also listen to a lot of YT recordings for interpretation ideas. I think it is a great resource. But I need to go back to the score for review, something I am not very good at doing.

Andante Op 60 No 13
I know I said that yesterday would be my last post for the challenge, but I heard a recording yesterday that inspired me. It’s by Marcello Fantoni, playing two very different Sor studies. He plays them both at the absolute highest level, and he is playing them on a beautiful 1820 Lacote guitar. Just outstanding!
I just don’t have the technique that Marcello and Jack Stewart have to pull off Op 31 No 20, but I can manage Op 60 No 13. So, here is my new last post of this challenge!

BTW that is very unfair to Marcello to mention my name in the same sentence as his. He clocks in about twice as fast as mine while maintaining amazing articulation and phrasing.

Jack Stewart Yes, Marcello's performance is ridiculously virtuosic, but yours was very good too, and far better than I have ever been able to play this.

I wasn't able to get a final video up in time for the watch party, but had some time last week to put one together. Thanks to the Fernando Sor challenege, I have rediscovered this charming piece and will keep polishing it to enhance performances of it in the future. Thank you tonebase friends for the encouragement along the way and the amazing number of performances included in this challenge forum.

Rick Lord This is outstanding in every respect, Rick! As always, your performance is not only technically strong, but so very musical. The quality of your sound and video production is as good as anything I have ever heard and seen in this genre.

Eric Phillips thanks so much Eric. Most of the credit has to go to our beloved Fernando for writing such a perfect guitaristic piece. If I were starting over again, I would spend more time learning Sor's music because it gives so much room for learning how to play expressively. You have been an inspiration in that regard!
