Drawing on both her collaborations with composers and her work as a composer, this livestream will look at some of the fascinating lessons which composing/working with composers can teach us about the interpretation of our repertoire. Laura will also give you some of her top tips for getting started with composition and unleashing your creative ideas!
Described by Classical Guitar Magazine as ‘linking guitar’s past, present and future’, Laura’s eclectic musical output has ranged from playing on Lorne Balfe's sountrack for Marvel film Black Widow to recording a new guitar concerto by Lisa Streich with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester. Laura studied with Julian Bream, during which time she gave two concerts at Wigmore Hall featuring premieres of his recent commissions; she has also appeared at Shakespeare’s Globe with her folk group Tir Eolas at the invitation of guitarist John Williams. As a composer, Laura’s music has been performed at Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall and Sadlers Wells, commissioned by the Birmingham Symphony Hall, International Guitar Foundation and ABRSM guitar syllabus, and broadcast on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Scotland and Hong Kong Radio 4.
