Steve Goss: Exam and Competition Preparation (May 21) Questions / Suggestions

Whether it’s your first music exam as a beginner or your final recital at college: whether it’s a local music competition or a big international competition, preparation for exams and competitions requires a very particular set of skills.

In this livestream, Prof. Steve Goss will discuss various approaches - both physiological and psychological - on how you can prepare for these events more effectively and efficiently.

He will discuss several topics including choice of repertoire, characterization, visualization, memorization, the persona of the performer, and the very particular kinds of pressure and performance anxiety associated with exams and competitions.
