ANNOUNCING the First-Ever tonebase Community VIRTUAL HANGOUT!

Hello, my dear fellow community members! 👋

During the ongoing virtuosity challenge I asked you whether you would be interested in a virtual hangout with fellow community members - a place where we can all be on the same video call together.

The idea garnered incredible support 🥳 with 95% of people in our livestream voting "yes" to the initiative! Therefore, we are organizing it! 🎉 let's do this!

When?

This Monday (May 24), we will all hop on a Google Meet call together and get to know each other a little better.

Here is the starting time in some popular time zones:

  • 12 pm Pacific / 3 pm Eastern
  • 8 pm United Kingdom
  • 9 pm Central Europe (Spain / France / Germany / Italy / Sweden / Poland / etc.)
  • 10 pm Southeastern Europe (Romania / Greece / Egypt etc.)

The call will start one hour after the Virtuosity Challenge Watch Party on Monday! It is going to be open to all community members, not only challenge participants.

If you comment below letting me know you'd like an email invite, the starting time will be automatically converted into your own time zone!

Invite by email:

Would you like to receive an invite to this event straight in your email inbox? Then reply to this thread below ( ↓ ) and I'll make an invite pop into the email address you already use for tonebase.

No need to put your address in your comment! It's already associated with your account. Just let me know you want the invite and I'll make it come!

Etiquette

The meeting will not be recorded, nor livestreamed anywhere.

There is no obligation to have your camera or mic on. I certainly hope that some of you will do so, but there is no pressure to do so whatsoever.

You can be a "fly on the wall" - in the call, but never un-muted. You can contribute by just writing in the call chat! That's fine too.

One thing: try to keep yourself muted if you're not talking - this will prevent barking dogs, fire trucks, helicopters, etc. from being broadcasted into everyone's ears. No pressure if you forget though! I can help with this too, as the host of the call.

Who can come?

Any member of the tonebase Community! You do not have to have taken part in the Virtuosity Challenge to be invited.

What will we be talking about?

Anything we want! Yourselves, your journey with the guitar, your experience in tonebase, your videos you sent in for our challenges, general guitar and music topics, etc. We might even play some "get to know each other" games, if we have time!

What do I need to join?

Any internet-capable device. A computer, a phone, a tablet, a laptop - anything.

Being a Google Meet hangout, you can join right from your browser. No need to install any additional software at all!

If your device has a microphone, camera, or both, that's great! Then you'll be able to be seen and heard by the others, should you so desire.

Where is the link?

The link is above, go to where it says "Video Call Link" or just click this text.

Hi Mircea, I have a question:
I don't speak English (at least not very well), but I can understand your speech. And for me, this time is very late, so I can only stay with you for a while. Will this be a problem?
If that's not a problem, could you please send me an invitation?

Bogdan Not a problem at all, Bogdan! You can be there and have your microphone muted the whole time. That's perfectly fine! (Same goes with the camera, by the way!) I sent an invite to your email inbox.

    Hi Mircea,

The virtual hangout is to start 1 hour after the watch party but since I can't find any link to the watch party I assume that the virtual hangout is the watch party (or, at least in lieu of it). Is this correct?

In any event, I am set up for the video call hangout at 12.

Derek and Gokce Turkmendag great duo!! I am a technical fool ... recording is for me some inaccessible and magical world that I cannot understand...

    • Derek wow... what a great «montage» job and the playing is just beautiful 👍

    • Marek Tabisz thank you Marek. It wasn't easy at first. It takes a lot of time to learn how to record, which equipment to buy, which programs and plugins to use, etc. Taking and editing video is another magical world. Also you have to spend some money for equipments.

martin 's recording session was very useful by the way, solved my many problems. You can watch it if you haven't yet, really opens a portal to the magical world 🧙‍♂️🌈🦄

Marek Tabisz Thank you Marek. I think it isn't as difficult as it looks to get started. I am just a beginner at this I have a lot to learn but it is very interesting.

Blaise Laflamme Thank you Blaise. It was great to see you last night - and to know how to pronounce your name! Everyone speaks great English - I am ashamed of my language skills

    • Derek you were doing great... I started late speaking english and at some point I realized that I find it better to express myself, like at 5% or 50% in another language, than be in a corner alone 😂. I'm so grateful to anyone trying to express himself and share ideas or feelings in a common language, we have so much to learn from others. But when we play music... all this language difference disappears!

Blaise Laflamme Sorry Blaise - I am English I meant that everyone who is a non native English speaker was doing great whereas I can't speak any other languages very well :-).  Maybe 5% French and German when necessary!

    • Derek hmmm... that's why you were speaking so well 😅... so next time we can speak with your 5% french 🤩!

Gokce Turkmendag I started watching Martin's workshops, but at one point my knowledge of the language and all this technical terminology overwhelmed me --- I gave up and didn't continue ... too fast for me and too much at once ...

Derek Blaise Laflamme Hehe, even knowing the proper French, I can't help but pronounce it "Blaze, The Flame" – especially after seeing you play 😁🔥🔥🔥

    • Roni Glaser haha... that sounds perfect to me the way you pronounce it, and it sounds like a rock star name! 😂
