Left Hand Foundations: Building Technique from the Ground Up
Your left hand is the engine behind everything you play — so let's build it right, from the ground up. In this live stream, we'll start with position basics and the key insight that proper hand position is best solidified through correct slur technique. From there, we'll work through a complete left hand workout: slurs (isolated, combined, and with fixed fingers), vertical stretches inspired by Odair Assad's Pumping Nylon exercises, and Ricardo Gallen's elegant approach to chord shape memory. We'll also point you to essential complementary materials on horizontal stretches and shifts, and finish by applying everything to etudes by Leo Brouwer and Villa-Lobos. Whether you're building your technique for the first time or refining what you already have, this session will give you a complete left hand foundation.

Due to a scheduling conflict with a production (recording some amazing content with Jan Depreter — Granada in Bream's transcription, Choro de Saudade by Barrios, and a full course on Tone Quality!), the live stream "Left Hand Foundations: Building Technique from the Ground Up" has been moved to Thursday, March 19th at 8:00 AM PT.
Please note: the US and EU switch to Daylight Saving Time on different dates this year (US: March 8 / EU: March 29), so the time difference is unusual right now. Please refer to the table below:Time Zone Local Time Los Angeles (PDT) 8:00 AM Denver (MDT) 9:00 AM Chicago (CDT) 10:00 AM New York (EDT) 11:00 AM São Paulo (BRT) 12:00 PM London (GMT) 3:00 PM Berlin / Paris / Brussels (CET) 4:00 PM Helsinki / Athens (EET) 5:00 PM Singapore (SGT) 11:00 PM Sydney (AEDT) 2:00 AM (March 20) -
Quick note,Martin, Pumping is not Assad's...

Hi, I'll watch the recording as I'm travelling that day. Two quick requests/suggestions, Martin.
1. Can we restart the monthly community challenges sometime soon. They keep me motivated and gives me feedback from fellow community members.
2. Can we have a livestream on scales as well, perhaps using HVL's etude 7 (or any other piece) ?
Cheers.
