Diving into one of the most iconic pieces of all time!

There is a mountain of published literature on Bach’s Chaconne. This can be overwhelming for the performer. In this livestream, I’ll guide you through a number of ideas presented by different authors and suggest some strategies for getting to know this incredible work more intimately.

This is a 50 year dream of mine. It was the first piece I heard on classical guitar when I started lessons ( John Williams album, Variations, which I purchased on the way home after signing up for classical guitar lessons).  It is (most probably) beyond my abilities and will ( again, most probably) always be. But I can still dream. Really looking forward to this.

Jack Stewart this is indeed one of the most beautiful piece. Nothing prevents you to play parts of the work and working towards a long-term goal of playing the whole in a few months/years?

    Hello Martin and Steve,

will the slides be available for reference? ( as the Goldberg were)

    Thanks for the excellent session.

I acquired the The Bach Chaconne for Solo Violin. A Collection of Views edited by Jon F. Eiche

An outstanding read to have in your library.

Another source covering Helga Thoene’s chorale quotations.

Note these are quite different from Eduardo Fernández’s list of chorale quotations….
