Intro to Odd Meter and Polyrhythms (June 9) Questions / Suggestions
Hellooo my friends! You requested it, and we're making it real
A number of users have asked for more livestreams on rhythm-related topics, so here we go with an introduction to odd meter and polyrhythms!
In this livestream, we will be taking a look at the basics of odd meter and polyrhythm and their implementation in guitar repertoire. In addition to a basic theoretical framework, we'll be diving into five examples from three intermediate and two advanced works of the guitar repertoire.
Featured examples will include excerpts from:
- Decameron Negro by Leo Brouwer
- Walk Dance by Miroslav Tadic
- Cantos Yoruba de Cuba by Hector Angulo
- Concierto Elegiaco by Leo Brouwer
- Nocturnal after John Dowland by Benjamin Britten.
