Great Discussion David Schramm ! I am most frustrated with that I can't play the things anymore that I have been focussing on during my studies. That is namely the José Sonata, Ginastera Sonata, several Bach Suites, and big concert pieces like the Grand Ouverture, Introduction et Caprice etc.!

I would need like a year off to get my technique up to a certain level and then actually re-learning and re-memorizing that stuff again ! AH, makes me mad thinking about that, haha 😭

Thanks for your reply Martin. I know exactly what you mean. Repertoire maintenance can be a challenge! In school we spent all that time on our recital repertoire. It has been 30 years since I did my senior recital. Wish I still had the fourth Lute Suite under my fingers. But I think I would approach it now with a better understanding and with my own fingerings.

I learn pieces and work on them over long periods. Then I learn other pieces and forget the ones I learned before. I have to relearn every single piece if I want to play it. Ant I have worked a lot on it, nevertheless...amnesia
