While Martin is on his family leave, several community members have expressed a desire to have a community-driven challenge as a way of connecting and sharing our musical journeys again. And so, with the authority vested in me by absolutely no one, I hereby initiate the "What are you working on?" Challenge!
So, let us all know what you're working on, and feel free to post some videos (or just sound tracks) so we can hear your progress and support one another.

Stefanie Mosburger-Dalz Well done Stefanie. A very complex piece with a lot of left hand gymnastics. I really appreciate how you keep a perfect left hand position during the performance. Bravo

Stefanie Mosburger-Dalz Lovely playing Stefanie - well done! If you've not seen it already Douglas Lora has a course on tonebase covering all 5 preludes - it's well worth watching.

Dale Needles I second that. I've used that Carlevaro document too and keep going back to it. He should be considered the authority, since he gave the premiere. I don't have date or location at the tip of my fingers.

Dave McLellan Hi Dave, if you like Carlevaro, you might want to check out the Tonebase Carlevaro discussion forum. Also, as you probably know, Maestro Carlevaro studied directly with Villa-Lobos.

Dale Needles Yes, I did know Carlevaro's link to VL. I didn't know abut the TB forum. I have worked with the School of guitar books 3 and 4 for many years (like since 1978 or so). lots to learn there.

Dave McLellan Great to hear that. I was fortunate to study with Carlevaro in Montevideo in the 1980s and was his US representative from 1982 to 1989. Love to have you join the Carlevaro Discussion Forum.

Ron hahaha, you can be sure, that I watched them all, and I learned a lot of it, for example I hear the music totally different now, yes, I learned a lot of Loras videos. Thank you for mentioning!, It is great todiscover all these hidden progressions between the progressions! so greatmusic, although seems to be simple...it is not

Stefanie Mosburger-Dalz nice playing, really. This will be a great piece in your repertoire. Some passages to work on., but the melody is coming out very nice,, both in upper voice and bass line. Well done. This piece is worth all the time you spend on it.

Thank you to tonebase for the excellent teaching videos fall 2024- Jan Depreter with Turina and Granados and not least Arturo Castro Nogueras (and Jobim and Dyens) for Felicidade-- a piece that I never thought I would/could play - and you may agree after hearing the video ;-) - I admit wide space for improvement. But I am stubborn and will work further for many hours.
BTW; there is a place called Practice Diary where you can upload what you bare working on Unnfortunately it does not get much attention eventhough much more different names appear there than in the challenges.

@Lars Kjøller-HansenThis is wonderful, Lars. This is a really dynamic piece. I thought I knew it somewhat but I just realized I was mistaking the name for Jose Felliciano's Feliz Navidad
. As good as that is this is much better.
It is great to see you again.

Eric Phillips Jack Stewart Stefanie Mosburger-Dalz Andre Bernier Marc Adler Ron . Thank you so much for your nice comments. I am glad you liked the piece. There are of course many much better and professional versions on YouTube. But you should start with Roland Dyens performance. This song from the movie Black Orpheus— the movie won prices but I find it, having watched it while practicing this piece, only see worthy for historical reasons- was the kick to bossanova outside Brazil..( The song is much slower than the solo guitar versions ) The composer Jobim later wrote “Girl form Ipanema” and “One note Samba”
