Arturo Castro Nogueras: Discovering Yourself Through the Guitar (Mar 31) Questions / Suggestions

My friends, I am so excited about this one! 😁🎉😎

My colleague Arturo Castro Nogueras is going to join us to talk about some incredibly important and almost universally overlooked aspects of the musical journey we are all on:

What do we want to get out of playing the guitar? What is success in music? Can we build a hobby or part-time career in music just by interacting with our community, without going through competitions or managers?

Join us on this livestream that will touch on topics of:

  • finding new audiences
  • music as part of a wider social and discursive field
  • a fulfilling relationship with the classical guitar
  • the road not (or less) taken
  • the guitar as an instrument for something more

We are going to be using this thread to gather suggestions and questions!

  • What questions do you have on this topic?
  • Any particular area you would like us to focus on?

Join Arturo Castro Nogueras in this live stream exploring new ideas about crafting a more fulfilling relationship with the guitar, discovering new audiences and performance opportunities, and developing a musical career (amateur or professional) outside the established paths of competitions, managers and guitar festivals.

Born into a family of musicians, Arturo has always tried to understand music as a way to articulate ideas, feelings and actions, using the resources provided by notes and arpeggios, technique and musicianship, sonatas and songs to go beyond the recital and the classical concert.

So the topic of finding new audiences is mentioned, and I feel that part of finding new audiences is building a repertoire to which an audience can relate. While I recognize the "need" for a concert soloist to play impressive pieces, do you see any value in learning shorter, more accessible pieces that a wider audience may find appealing?
