What to expect:
Level 7 introduces more advanced pieces with attention to retaining a strong focus technical and musical foundation. Here the basics of tremolo, pizzicato, and basic historical context and theory will be incorporated as important elements while learning a piece.
Description:
Level 7 will begin to introduce more advanced pieces featuring techniques like tremolo and uncommon extended techniques like Bartok Pizzicato. Here elementary polyphony will be incorporated into lessons, as well as discussions of historical periods and their musical features.

Interesting that the questionnaire put me at level 11. I must have too high an opinion of my abilities
When I look at the pieces in each level I'd put myself between level 6/7. There are some pieces in level 7 I already play but there are some in level 6 I'd love to learn that I've never played before so I'll make myself at home here for awhile and learn some pieces in both levels. -
Debbie The same goes for me, Debbie. No way I’m at level 11 (where I was ‘placed’) even though I’ve played a few pieces from that repertoire list in the past. But that was years ago, and the combination of injury and inactivity has knocked me way back. I can still manage the basics though, and this I suppose is what confuses the algorithm. (Note to Mircea: you need to hone/rethink the ‘placement’ quiz - a worthy project for an ‘education’ credit, I would think!)

Debbie Hi Debbie and David Krupka ! Thank you for your feedback - we're aiming to continuously refine the quiz, and I'll keep this in mind going forward.
There's definitely a fair amount of subjectivity in a question like "how comfortable are you with...". Some people might interpret 1 star to mean "I've never heard of this technique", while others might interpret it as "well, I've never felt relaxed while playing (say, a barre), so I can't give myself more than 1 or 2 stars". That being said, we're going to take your experience into account as we adapt the quiz in the future!

That's a really interesting quiz to pick out what I need to work on. I think the level is pretty accurate and I can play several of the pieces on this list...maybe not to concert readiness, but close. I took it twice and the first time the result was too high and then I took it again and interpreted the questions as being in context of a performance and that turned out to be pretty accurate. I can play artificial harmonics all day as an exercise, but it's a different story trying to nail something like El testament d'Amelia.

Steve Price I had a slight accident while hanging Christmas lights, I made some recordings for the cross string and found out later that my Scarlett Focusrite was not plug and play. Setting up for more recordings.

I was at level 9 after the quiz and yes there are some I can play through but not at concert level. I do need to work on some skills, I will start with level 7.

I've had the same feeling of being put too high in the score system. Maybe we're all very humble people :D
I'll downgrade myself of a couple of levels :P-

I took the quiz and it put me at level 10. Looking at the pieces, I think I fit better at level 7. Two of the level 7 pieces are in my repertoire now, and there would be more for me to learn here. I think that the quiz is missing some questions that could make it more accurate, such as left hand independence/complex movement with the left hand, and how fast you can play arpeggios.

You're absolutely right - the quiz was not designed to be an exhaustive list of guitar skills, but rather to summarize some popular skills that many tonebase teachers mention in their lessons. Once we release more lessons where the teachers focus specifically on complex left-hand movement, we'll add that in as a question!
