  • I started working on Sor”s opus 5, Andante Largo. If there’s a chance, I’d be happy to join.

    • joosje I keep your score Joosje. I am returning to Sor more and more through Eric music already and your Andante touched me very much!!! But, it is not "easy"...in the score is writing " Petites pieces trĂšs faciles" !!! voilĂ  !

    • Nora Torres-Nagel indeed, no idea how it ended up under this description, but it’s a wonderful piece, with so many details to encourage more precise phrasing and articulation. Emmanuel gave some very useful hints to find best fingerings for that, and to make it even more expressive within the style of the period.

Btw, Listen to Ida Presti play this piece!

or Anne Haasch on a romantic guitar

They are very different in approach but both inspired me in making my own choices.

Nora, enjoy this piece and take a dive into the many scores here :

it’s in Swedish but you just choose the letter T for Tarrega, M for Mertz etc.

Have been hoping to see one of these. Would like to play Carulli's Romanze from op21 no3, if there's time.

    • Roddy Hi there! I think we may be reaching the available time we'll have on the day, but I think we should be able to have a look at this together:) Carulli has some beautiful music! Please do post here if you have a score. That would be really useful. See you soon, Emmanuel

@Emmanuel Here we go. It's in the Trinity Grade 6 syllabus 2015-2019, and there's a recording here. If there's time that's great, if not I'm happy to wait.

  • Hi Emanuel, I would like to play the prelude from Bach’s BWV 998. If you have any space left that would be awesome.

    • Daniel BeltrĂĄn  Hi Daniel! Would love to if we have time, but with 7 participants who signed up before I can't promise we'll make it (though I'll try my best!). All best! Manny

    • Paul Kennedy Hi Paul, I would love to go through some Brouwer together though I'm afraid we may have reached our time availability for the day (standby performers included). If anything happens and we go through everything in record time, or anyone else is unable to come, we'll make sure to have a go at it. Otherwise, I'll make sure to schedule another one of these sometime soon:) All best wishes, Manny

    • Emma Hi Emma, I would so love to hear your performance of this! As I mentioned to Paul, we may have already reached our limit for this livestream but please do make sure to sign-up for a next one. I'll try my best to schedule one soon! In the meanwhile, do drop me an email if you have any specific questions or difficulties (or if you'd like to share a performance of it!). Happy New Year and best of luck with the Bach! Emmanuel

  • Hi Everyone!

Thank you all for your enthusiasm to participate! I'm really looking forward to seeing you there:) I think we've reached our available slots, in the following order:

1 Derek: Study, op. 11, no. 6 by Sor

    2 Nora Torres-Nagel: Prelude No. 1 by Villa-Lobos

    3 Barney: Granada by AlbĂ©niz

4 Bill Young: Se Ela Perguntar by Dilermando Reis

5 Joosje: Andante Largo, op. 5 by Sor

6 Roddy: Romanze, op. 21, no. 3 by Carulli

(7 Giovanni: Prelude from BWV 998 by Bach)

(8 Daniel BeltrĂĄn: Milonga by Jorge Cardoso)

(9 Paul Kennedy: Estudio 6 by Leo Brouwer)

(10 Emma: Gavottes I & II from BWV 1012 by Bach)

We will make sure to have at least 6 participants perform and will move on to the following if time permits. I will aim to keep each lesson at around 10-15 mins, so don't feel you must play the pieces in full unless you'd like to:)

To clarify, these lessons will happen over Zoom and will be seen by other attendees. Please expect to perform the pieces live (this is not a video submission event). However, the lessons will not be recorded or livestreamed to the tonebase website.

Very much looking forward to hearing all your performances!!

Very best wishes for the New Year, Emmanuel
