Jazz Meets Classical 20 Miniatures by Matthew Dunne
Contemporary music doesn't have to be intimidatingly complex! Join your host Ashley Lucero as she introduces 20 miniatures composed by her long-time mentor Matthew Dunne from New York, a jazz-classical guitarist whose writing is a combination of rich jazz sonorities and western form and development. These short pieces range from intermediate to advanced and are extremely enjoyable to play. Come see which one you like most!

Currently I am still not practicing/playing much (1 year or so now due to shoulder problems; only 10 minutes here and there...), but it is great to have this event here! I own the book of the miniatures and started to play the easier ones. So much fun and very nice music. Also Dunne's Jazz Etudes which I know from Kanengiser's recording (a few) are great, and 2 years ago I started to learn No. VIII and would like to continue on that as well as on the miniatures when my shoulders are ready. I look forward to watching this stream, thanks for it in advance!

Ashley (Ash) Lucero Thanks for this great live stream on the Mathew Dunne 20 Miniatures. I have ordered them from GSP and look forward to learning some of them soon. I also really appreciate all your live streams, particularly your emphasis on more contemporary music and as well as on Latin American music. Your Youtube videos are also great!

Hi Ashley, hi Community,
as follow-up to this live event I want to share my first recording of Miniature No. 1 - not "perfect" but
1. it is never perfect ;)
2. I had no time for more tries/recordings now and
3 I think it shows my basic idea of how to play that beautiful pieceIt is recorded with a smartphone only, with the smartphone mic and no special editing.
Currently, I am practising Miniatures Nos. 2 and 3.
See you here or in other threads and events,
have fun.
