It's such a pleasure to welcome you as one of the founding members of the tonebase community. Please introduce yourself in a post below with the following format:
- Where are you from and what's your favorite food from there? ;)
- What are you currently working on?
- What are you hoping to get out of this community?
I'll go first:
- While it's hard to pinpoint where exactly I'm from, lol, I just go with Bavaria Germany, and as favorite food, I'd choose Beer (surprise, surprise - closely followed by "Schweinshaxe" - Bavarian Pork-knuckle, which is quite delicious, but sooo heavy that it feels weird calling it favorite food)
- Trying to keep my Aranjuez in the fingers, even though certainly don't have that much time to practice as during college days...
- I hope we can facilitate authentic and interesting discussions around playing, learning, teaching, performing the guitar as well as all adjacent topics like concert prep, professional development, auditioning etc...

Hi everybody,
My name is Roberto and I'm from Venezuela. My favorite food is the pabellón criollo, a dish with shredded beef, plantain, rice and black beans. My favorite drink would be chicha, but not the andean version, which is sour and fermented, but the sweet version which is almost dessert.
Currently I'm working on Carcassi's Etude No.1 Op.60 and on Antonio Lauro's El Negrito. I also practice Tai Chi and am fascinated by the similarities it and Classical Guitar. Marco Tamayo's essential principles bear stunning resemblance to treatises by Tai Chi masters.
I'm happy to be with Tonebase for the variety of authentic, verified and high-quality information available on performance of high-level classical guitar. (By high-level I don't mean necessarily hard or difficult; it can be easy and exquisite). I also like the community it fosters.

Hi All,
I am Srinath frim Bangalore, India. But I do consider the bay area as a second home as I spent considerable time there, and that was the place where I got introduced to western classical guitar :-)
I love vegetarian fare from all over the world with a good pasta, a good thai yellow curry or a great Chille relleno taking preference. And from my region, for breakfast I love a masala dosa, which is a rice-lentl crepe with curried potato-onion as a stuffing served with a coconut chutney and mixed vegetable stew (sambar is the local term)
RIght now I am focussing on technique and building out a repertoire, as well as preparing for grade 6 ABRSM exams. Pieces include Sonata KP 34 by Scarlatti, Prelude in D minor by M. Ponce, Bouree by Ernst Gottleib Baron and Etude No 13 by Caracasi. Apart form this Bouree by Bach and Spanish Romance are also worked on.
Any advice from tonebase veterans and faculty on creating a good learning path for myself, would be very welcome. Feel free to write to me at [email protected] also.

Greetings All,
• I am from Bayonne, New Jersey, USA. Favorite food from the area...it would be a crime not to say pizza, but the carne enchilada tacos from El Aguilar Dorada are insanely good.
• I just finished writing a book of ten short "studies" for classical guitar. (My focus over the last ten years has been composing and performing original music for solo finger-style steel string guitar. I have been shifting my focus back to classical music/guitar this past year.) I also teach a full time high school classical guitar program here in town, which I began in 2012.
• I am hoping to find inspiration and motivation here as part of the Tonebase community, both as a player and composer. I believe the best way to do that is by communicating and collaborating with other artists. I am also looking to incorporate what I learn here into my school curriculum and classes.

The ten studies are appropriate for intermediate level players. I tried to write short pieces that were good for technique, but most importantly good for working on expressive playing. If you are interested in seeing an example, feel free to email me - [email protected].

Hi all,
New here and pretty much just trying it out. Very new to classical guitar though I have some experience with guitar but never really got beyond basic stuff.
From London in the UK though currently in a little UK village full of river walks and fields. If we are cheating with drink then my favourite food is single malt whisky, if it needs to be solid then my passion is bread, and I've spent a long time perfecting my sourdough bread. Though if it's cooking, I can't get enough of gumbo which isn't remotely from here but is amazing and I love cooking it
Currently working on pretty much anything I can. I guess I keep coming back to Lagrima currently which is about the level I can manage, not entirely happy but getting there. Otherwise need to work on learning to read music and learning the fretboard. Slightly concerned that maybe much f the content here is beyond me so will have to see.

weateallthepies Hi Jay! Oh, you gotta tell me your Sourdough Secrets, I am so envious of people of can make their own bred (my girlfriend tries occasionally, but let's not talk about that
) I keep coming back to Lagrima back as well! With every iteration, there's a new layer that waits to be discovered! Currently, I am preparing that piece (along with Recuerdos to face my all-time Nemesis: Tremolo!) for our tonebase Community Concert, would be lovely if drop by!

weateallthepies Hi Jay, I was just typing up my intro post when yours popped up, and I think we might almost be the same person so I'm just gonna jump in here.
- I'm from Scotland and I was going to say whisky, too! But if it needs to be an actual food, then I'll go with cranachan, which is a traditional Scottish desert of oats, raspberries, cream and... whisky! (vegan cream for me though)
- I'm very much an amateur and am trying to build a practice routine into my life, 12+ years after my teenage love affair with the classical guitar. I've been fiddling around with a couple of parts from Bach's lute suites (HARD but wonderful) and some from a book of Intermediate Baroque Guitar Solos.
- I wasn't going to post because I'm really far below the standard that most of the people here seem to be - but then I remembered that this is a community and all are welcome. So, hello!

màiri Hi Mairi, welcome to the community! There's no real 'standard' here - people play at a variety of levels, but we're all learning. (Some of us are re-learning - for myself, it's been more (much more) than a dozen years since that teenage love affair!) It's a friendly, supportive crowd here - I'm sure you'll fit in!

màiri Hi. Yeah, whisky speaks to me. Got to make it up there again at some point and do a few distillery tours. Though I love the peat so I probably need to get to Islay.
Good luck with the practising. Currently just trying my hardest to at least pick the guitar up everyday and do something, but I know I need some more structure.

Martin love baking bread. Sourdough is actually a very relaxed process, takes all day or even two in terms of time, but very little actual effort. Like most things though, you just get a feel for it after experimenting, can tell when it's too wet or dry, or ready to bake and so on.

Hi my name is René
- I'm from Denmark, and I really like koldskål and risalamande :p
- I've not been able to play the guitar for many years now, and even back then I always went the easy way, with rock, indie and blues. But lately I've been thinking more and more about learning some classical style guitar. I want to be able to practice more and be a good role model for my children. I played Asturias for my high school music exam, and I did almost finish a bachelor’s degree in musicology in Copenhagen. But never had time to practice my instrument. Now my biggest problem is coping with me being older and severely out of practice. And I have gain so much weight, that even holding the guitar correct, is a problem. I hope to work through it and gain musically confidence.
- I do not expect using the community much. But I hope to learn a lot from the courses, and to stay motivated.
I am really looking forward to practicing again.

Those Danish dishes sound very interesting and right for the upcoming Christmas Season! We will do a Christmas Challenge where everyone gets to share Christmas Pieces that they love, may them be classical pieces or traditional piece from their country. And I know for a fact, that all countries north of Germany have ABSOLUTELY fantastic Christmas pieces, so I DO hope you'll be using the Community just a bit in the beginning
I have a background in playing in a progressive metal band, I'm not sure which persona I am aiming for as a role model for my future children

Hello Tonebase Community,
I'm in Clovis, California (Central Valley). Too many food favorites, can't pick just one, but if I had to it would be cheesecake!
Working on the 6th Cello suite, JS Bach. My own transcription. Building myself a new guitar since I still play my first, and after building nearly 400 of them I thought it was time to upgrade. LOL
I miss the comradery of my classmates when I did my BM and MA degrees many years ago. Retired from teaching at the college level after 20 years there. Plus I see many of my former instructors from my college study years have lessons on Tonebase.
