Week 3 - Into F Major and Turning Up the Heat
Halfway there. Suggested focus this week: Sections 5 and 6 (bars 35–44), the F major theme with its barres and stretches, then the arpeggio up the fretboard and the chromatic scale.

Sections 5 and 6
This is the first time in the piece where Martin's fingerings are significantly different than mine. The first video below is with the fingerings I have been using for years. The second is with Martin's fingerings (more or less) after about 15 minutes of practice. I cut the second video short since I have always used the same fingering as Martin does for the chromatic scale at the end of section 6.
Here are my thoughts right now:
- Martin's fingerings are certainly easier on the left hand in several places, particularly when he takes out the barres and goes down into the open position (ex. measures 35 and 37). That said, I do find leaving the barres in to be more stable, at least right now after minimally practicing it with Martin's fingerings. If I ever do adopt any of these changes, I will need much more practice with them.
- I think I prefer my fingering for the big descending diminished arpeggio in measures 41 and 42.

I'm still in this. Apologies for not posting... I'm needing to go at a slower pace. But I'm enjoying getting to hear about how everyone is thinking about the piece and hearing you all play! Brovo!

Good comparison Eric, I see you have a very good control on the piece. I´m pasting here my take of the second half.
I had no oportunity to see the live event and Martin´s fingerings, so I´ve used the ones I found more logic for me....I´ll crosscheck with Martin´s fingerings and adopt the easiest and safest.

I can get through 1-34 okay. Then it is slow going navigating the shifts and barre. I notice the fingering on the TB score has differences from videos.
