(Old Submission Thread, 2020 - Mar 2021) CALL FOR RECORDINGS for upcoming Virtual Masterclass with Mircea Gogoncea
This thread has become too long, and is now therefore closed for submissions. Feel free to use the new thread to submit videos for future virtual masterclasses with me! Same rules as always apply.
Announcement:
Following the success of the first Community Virtual Masterclass on December 13th (<- click to watch), we are once again looking for submissions for the next Virtual Masterclass with me.
A new date and time will be announced once we have 2-3 suitable submissions. So please, go ahead and submit your videos to us by replying to this very thread!
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis (no deadline), so if yours doesn't make it into this upcoming masterclass, we hope to be able to use it in a future edition.
How Virtual Masterclasses work:
- You send in a video of yourself performing a piece, movement of a piece, or even a passage from a piece.
- Once we have 2-3 submissions, I will run a live stream specifically for you, giving you tailor-made advice for your own playing!
It's like if we were doing an online lesson - except others get to see it and hopefully also benefit from the advice I'm giving you. Here is an example!
It's basically an exact replica of an in-person masterclass: you play for a teacher (in this case through a recording), and they work with you while others watch.
Why?
- Have you been watching the live streams and wishing you could ask me a question relating to your playing specifically? Now is your chance!
- Share your music with others and grow by watching them, too.
- It's basically a free online lesson for you!
What must you know?
- It can be something you recorded specifically for this, or a preexisting recording you already have.
- All levels are welcome! My advice will be tailored to your specific level, and in the past, we've worked with everything from beginners to full-on concert players.
- You must be fine with other people watching the video and your performance, as it will be embedded into the live stream itself. I will start and stop it as if we were doing an actual, in-person masterclass.
- I usually spend about 20-35 minutes per submission.
- While I will try to feature everyone, if we get a lot of submissions, your video might not be immediately featured. In that case however, we'll run more of these very soon!
Where and what to submit?
- Submit right here, by replying to this thread!
- You can either attach a video directly from your computer, or paste a link to a YouTube video
- (If you opt to use a YouTube video, it can be unlisted - no need to make it public!)
- Please also attach a link to the sheet music.

Dario Hi Dario! It's not too late - we'll simply feature your submission in the virtual masterclass after this one! This is what I like about this submission system - you can send in videos at any time, and they will be featured as soon as the next masterclass takes place.

Hi, I found this score of Milonga with many ornaments, so if anybody wants it, here it is. I also tried to transcribe the handwriting, but it is not finished (no fingerings, etc..). For Freaks

After the two fantastic master classes (the recommendation are most helpful, especially with the videos for ongoing reference) and Dario's addtional recording I have decided that the Milonga is a MUST to learn. So the score is now sitting on my music stand and I am starting the work - knowing it will take a lot of work for me. I am really exited to add this to my repertoire.

I plan to submit a piece and I hope that I can record within the next couple of days... (for this masterclass again and maybe for Rene's masterclass again, too; not to forget the Sor op. 35 challenge
There is so much going on here on tonebase... with really great stuff, such as Martin's recording course etc. And besides the live stuff there are so many interesting videos...

Robert Dear Robert, yes - you are right. There is so much going on on Tonebase ... but practice time is always too short and the family needs time too.... maybe a lottery-win should help...no more daily work and much more time for playing guitar

here is my recording of Agustin Barrios - Julia Floria.
This is crazy, there are thousands of recordings of this piece available. Many recordings, I think, are too slow in performance, or "to straight" ... this is my attempt to play it not too much relaxed.
I tried to get the melodie lively and louder than the accompaniment.
It would be nice if you could help me in an upcoming Masterclass to optimize my interpretation of this lovely piece

Quick update: I moved your video from the latest masterclass thread to here, so that it may "live" in the main submissions thread. I might make a new submissions thread since this one is getting a bit big, but until the next masterclass, we'll keep this going just to have all the videos in one place.

Olli Thanks for that - and I love this piece (and other pieces by the genius Barrios), and all the different ways of playing and interpreting it. I look forward to participating in that masterclass - either by listening/watching, or even active with an own submission, depending on my workload and the opportunity of recording at the weekend. However, if I will be too late for this masterclass I will be more or less automatically in time for the next one.

Olli I think you played very well. I've been practising this piece for almost two months, but still far away from that level. Congrats! Don't overcook your guitars in the furnace by the way.

Hello Mircea , hello everyone!
I tried to play Cavatina today. This time I brushed my hair and used a proper microphone and a video camera. The ending is not good, but better than the other 80 recordings I made today (a little exaggerating) which made me very exhausted. I always get nervous when approaching the ending while recording, and often make mistakes
