Best notation software specifically for classical guitar scores
Hi everyone,
I'm interested in what software you are all using for writing guitar music; for personal creative purposes and also for teaching. I am currently using Finale PrintMusic, which is great, but I'm wondering if there's anything out there specifically for classical guitar.
I also like to make my own instructional sheets for my students, often using a combination of simple graphics (ex a neck diagram), text, and perhaps a line or bar of written music. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for that as well.

I am currently using Sibelius first (its free) on the laptop. The interface is very intuitive. On the iPad, I use Notion. It is affordable, the samples are quite good and it even has handwritten input capabilities. I also use Scanner Part to capture scores from the camera and play them and export them to musicXML to import anywhere (e.g. Notion) and further edit.
For the instructional sheets, my advice would be to have a look at Affinity Publisher for the laptop. Capture the graphics using screenshots and combine them with text using this DTP program. It is quite good and affordable as sell.

José Espírito Santo So with Sibelius you can make proper guitar specific scores? With string indications (circled numbers) barring indications, voice separation etc. ?

Adam Goulet Adam: yes, absolutely. All of these are built-in, and you can also import any kind of graphic symbol (even ones you make yourself) or widely available font to use within your scores and parts. Hope this helps!

Adam. You will be able to do it all with Sibelius Ultimate (the €€€ version). With Sibelius first there are some restrictions: Only two voices, limited symbols, etc. But Fingering (both left and right hand) is included and barring can be done. String indication can be easily added (e.g. with Affinity publisher).
