Wow!! This is such a great piece. I really look forward to these Albeniz workshops; and interested in your choice of key and sound produced for Capricho Catalan, compared to some of the other versions in D major. You always make wonderful choices based on musicality and bring out singing lyrical lines.

Barney looking forward to having you there! About the key – I've always felt that G major can better convey the light atmosphere of the original piano version. Though the more common D major key in guitar might seem closer to the original Eb major, it is also played a whole octave lower (so a minor 9th lower than the original!). G major on the other hand is only a minor 6th lower than the original, enabling us to use a lighter-sounding upper register.
The live stream will include illustrations of how the choice of D major and G major affect the expression of the piece. (These are the two most plausible keys -without use of a capo- to maintain the initial drone throughout the piece), so if you have a score in D, do bring it along:)

Emmanuel Great!! Yes, I also have the D major score. I look forward to this, and hope you will provide us with an annotated score --including your fingerings. In playing your version a bit, I think I like yours better than the D major because of sound and tone considerations. Thanks!
