  • I'm curious when and how the elements that are most closely associated with Spanish music came into being. I personally don't hear a distinct difference between Spanish and other European/UK music in the Classical Era or some of the early Romantic, but then it seems to become very prominent in a lot of work.

If possible,  speak about background etc for the following major works, which have been originally composed for piano and/or orchestra and some of the  pieces transcribed for guitar as well:

    Albeniz:  Iberia Suite

                    Suite Espanola

    Granados:  12 Spanish Dances

                        Valses Poeticos

    Falla:  El Amor Brujo

    Thanks!!

Please talk about Alicia De Larrocha, the legendary Spanish pianist,  and her wonderful interpretations and performance of Spanish Classical music.  She has influenced performers (of several instruments ) for this music.

I would be interested in some discussion of contemporary Spanish composers, especially those less well known.

Thank you for such an engaging presentation.  Although the final influences of Spanish music are of Moorish and Arabic, there are earlier influences that go all the way to India.  Particularly in Rajasthan which was a staging area for the silk road that connected all the way to Europe.  No doubt this would be too much to explore in one wonderful exploration of Spanish music.  Perhaps at another time it would be possible to explore the music that had to be left out because of valuable time given to this discussion.  One can only hope that ms. Baczewska could be encouraged to give yet another such wonderful discussion on this topic.

    thank you so much.

Also, although you stopped often and stated where these pieces in the presentation were, it was hard to see the full list.  Is it possible that a list exists with all the examples of music shared in the discussion?

    thank you so much.
