Work out some of fingerings with my teacher. Still some issues with tempo, just have to spot and slow practice. Will work on it for another couple of weeks before moving to new repertoire then revisit this again.

I think you are doing a good job. I also agree on the method, that is: after a period of study, abandon the piece and let it "mature" within us, to then resume it after some time, eg one or two months later (... and then also after years) Music and the way we play it evolve with us over time.

ivan paolo yes. There is also mental fatigue sometimes if you work a piece for too long and you may lose the motivation or the reason why you pick it up in the first place.

Blaise Laflamme lol that was a special effect I throw in since it was a theme song for a war movie.
kidding.. there is a air base near where I lived and they occasionally fly past. Im so use to it that I just continue playing.

What of this piece: les barricades mystérieuses by Francois Couperin (1717)? Originally for harpsichord. fifth piece from « Ordre 6ème de clavecin »
I wanted to play this piece since a while. Finally found a good version. It should be in the practice timeline, and will be, but since this is such a nice transcription of baroque harpsichord music, I decided to post it here. It’s very fresh,, just worked out most of the fingerings. Especially the last variation needs more work.
It is a rondo structure, with quite unexpected modulations. That’s seems to be the meaning of the piece.

The suggestion of barricades is "a double entendre’ referring simultaneously to feminine virginity and the suspensions of harmonic progressions of the music, whose lute figurations from the style brisé are imitated to produce an enigmatic stalemate"….
Other suggested intended meanings for the title include:
- impeding communication between people
- between past and present or present and future
- between life and death
- women's underwear
- allegedly a common way of referring to women's eyelashes among the Salonniere of the 17th century
- masks worn by performers of Le Mystère ou les Fêtes de l’ Inconnu (The Mysterious One or the Celebrations of the Unknown One) staged by one of Couperin's patrons, the Duchesse du Maine in 1714
- a "technical joke...the continuous suspensions in the lute style being a barricade to the basic harmony".

joosje Well done.Thanks for sharing music and the notes too. I love this piece and I've the A.Diaz and D.Russel sheets, but I've never start to study it. I like your gentle sound.

joosje btw I used Matthew McAllister’s transcription. I don’t have the other ones. Interested to find out if there are any major differences. It feels as if written for guitar.

joosje Oh that is beautiful. I'm really behind this week listening to everybody and commenting, but when I saw "Les barricades" I had to listen. It is my favorite piece at the moment. Great job! I need to learn it soon.

Olli beautiful playing Olli. I enjoyed listening a lot. You did great in only 3 weeks! It’s hard to get a steady pulse in the fast part, you’re almost there, you make it sound really good

Olli That was great, Olli! To be playing this iconic piece that well in just three weeks is quite an achievement. Congratulations! That is now a piece you can play that everyone will love, no matter who they are.

Eric Phillips thank you very much - but no !!! My wife can't hear me practicing tremolo pieces and Asturias....so not everybody will love those pieces

Olli Well that is your wife's loss! Sure, it may be a bit overplayed, but it is beautiful nonetheless. Looking forward to tomorrow as well, but I won't be able to watch on Saturday.
