    BWV 996 Prelude, Allemande and (separate recording) Courante 

    I couldn't get all 3 in one recording. I actually didn't get any of them in 1 recording but each has some good moments and show promise. The courante in particular pretty much fell apart on the second part, however its repeat held up pretty well. I just noticed I didn't trim out the opening stumble - opps.

    Hopefully I can get a decent recording, either as one or separately, before tomorrow. I am hoping that by posting these recordings I will be more focussed to get a good recording.

       That's excellent, Jack. I like how the ornaments really fit well in the time and don't stand out too much. My attempts at cross-string ornaments always come out too loud, so I expect this must have taken a lot of work. They're really nice. I also like the contrast between the Prelude and Allemande. I've heard quite a few recordings where the end of one and the beginning of the other have the same intensity, so I like the release you have here.

       I’m really touched by your rendition/ interpretation of this suite. It’s really difficult to get it working on the modern guitar as it is so well conceived for the softer and  more subtle lute. You really make it work, the lines are so clear, the rhythms flowing and the ornaments natural and clean. Thank you so much for this submission. You have worked hard to get to this level and it was worth every hour of study!

       Thanks Joosje. This has certainly taken a long time to get it to this point. I just recorded a better version today though the volume is too loud so it is somewhat harsh and tinny. This gives me the opportunity to figure out some post production techniques (all very new to me 🙄).

      I am also well past changing my strings so I will do that and see if I can get another version - since Martin hasn't posted a Watch Party date yet.

    I worked during the summer learning Villa-Lobos's Etude X, the 1928 version that adds a page of music not in the final Segovia edition. 

    I played it last weekend for my local guitar society and my daughter filmed it and booed at the end. 

    I liked the performance, and here it is!

       Great job, Ernesto. And to have played this before an audience!  I like this etude though I have never tried to play it. (I think #1 and #5 are the only 2 I have ever worked up.)

       Very nicely performed. This is one of favorite Villa-Lobos Etudes and while  I have never studied it, I know it is very challenging. I believe HVL referred to it as the Amazon Study. 👏
