The Last Mile: Goal Setting That Gets Pieces Across the Finish Line

Event by Team

Most practice goals don't fail at the start — they fail in the last mile, when a piece is "almost there" and momentum evaporates. In this stream, we'll lay out a goal-setting framework built for that final stretch: how to set realistic year-long and monthly targets, how to design the daily practice that actually compounds, and how to push a piece from "playable" to "performance-ready" without burning out. We'll work through the framework with concrete examples — pieces you can name, problem spots you can hear — and you'll leave with a plan you can apply this week. This one is for players who keep starting pieces but rarely finish them, or who have something on the stand right now that needs to come home.
