Michelle P I think most here agree with you about a challenge theme needing to be broad enough that everyone, whatever their level, can participate. I think that's been true for most of the challenges in the past, but often less experienced players are not familiar enough with the repertoire to know what piece(s) to choose. (Remember that you can always ask for suggestions!) We have in fact had a 'woman composer' theme not too long ago, although there's no reason a theme can't be repeated. I do like your idea of a challenge devoted to a single technique - although we'd have to steer clear of something like 'tremolo' if broad participation was an aim! But common technical devices, like scales, arpeggios, or harmonics could all serve as challenge themes, I think.
