Building a Repertoire

I know it's up to the individual, but I'd be curious to hear thoughts from the TB staff or guests on selecting pieces to work up:

- How much of what I'm working on should be at, above, or below my current grade?

- How much should be technical exercises, etudes, etc. versus performance pieces?

- What are your thoughts on choosing a recital program?

- How much do you keep performance ready at any given time?

- How about standards versus more obscure pieces (i.e. does anyone really want to hear ____ one more time?).

- When to say goodbye to that piece you spent sooo much time getting up to speed only to realize you don't really like it?
