Update from David and Taiwo: Classical Guitar School Fundraiser
Hello everyone! I am very sorry that I haven’t been active on Tonebase lately, I’ve been extremely busy. I’d like to update everyone and give you the chance to help our friend Taiwo Adegoke promote music education and classical guitar in his home country of Nigeria in Western Africa. Many of you know Taiwo as he has been featured on tonebase with his fantastic compositions and arrangements for the classical guitar. His positivity is truly inspirational and he has gone above and beyond to create a first of its kind school for classical guitar education. In particular he is interested in providing lessons and support for socio-economically disadvantaged children. The school is in need of basic supplies such as guitars, footstools, music stands, and strings etc to help continue the expansion of the project. We have begun a Gofundme account to help raise a small amount of money for this inspiring endeavor and it has already been funded halfway! Together with the support of our dear friend Mircea we think that the fantastic people at tonebase can put us over the top. as for me, there have been ups and downs, but mostly ups. Unfortunately due to the pandemic my public school has experienced major staffing issues and the guitar program has been disassembled so that we can focus on rebuilding the woodwind, band and orchestra programs. This setback has been frustrating but I’ve refocused my energy on regional guitar ensembles the New York City Guitar Orchestra and the newly formed New Jersey Guitar Orchestra. In addition I’ve been chosen to participate in the United States Guitar Orchestra for 2022! The plan is for a tour starting in nyc’s Lincoln Center and then three performances around Spain! I can’t thank you all enough for the support and friendship. It can only get better!!!
