Emmanuel Lacopo: Technological Expansion of Classical Guitar Performance

During the twentieth century, the efforts of guitarists Andrés Segovia, Julian Bream, and John Williams raised the classical guitar’s profile to a legitimate, virtuosic, concert hall instrument. However, as of the 1930s, technological innovations entered the world of guitar music and brought the electric guitar, amplification, effect pedals, digital audio processing, and so much more.

Today, composers and performers are presented with an instrument far more versatile than ever! This live stream lecture series will explore the use of electric guitar and electronics within classical music as well as the technical benefits that arise through diligent study of both electric and classical guitar.

Great idea to bring this discussion to our community! I feel there is a lack of technology and tech resources in the current classic guitar teaching. The old repertoire is excellent but there are millions of good opportunities in the new pieces, written by contemporary composers, many times using tech resources.

This live stream was really great, I loved! Unfortunately I've been online just at the beginning, and couldn't ask any question, but I watched later and it was all great. Thank you both, Martin and Emmanuel, you're great! I would like to register a thought:
