BHASKAR Great job, Bhaskar! You got almost everything right! Here are some comments from my part:

      • on page 1, some of the accidentals indicated by the key signature haven't been written in. I've circled the notes where this happens.
      • on page 2, you are using one too many ledger lines for the low E. We want to use the least amount of ledger lines possible - therefore, if you can write a note below a ledger line (the third one, in this case), there is no need to draw an additional ledger line below the note. In fact, drawing the additional line is technically considered "wrong".
      • also on page 2, your symbol for the flat is rotated by 180 degrees. It should look something like this: ♭

      José Espírito Santo Great job!

You got almost everything correct on the written assignment! Here are a couple of quick comments:

      • although we call notes "d sharp", "b flat", etc., the sharp and flat symbols should be written before the note, not after. This is just a convention, but it is a universal rule. I've "penciled them in" next to where you drew them. The noteheads and everything else was perfect though!
      • one little note mistake on the IIIrd fret assignment- check that one.

When it comes to the video - perfect!!! You got everything right. Hope to see you in the upcoming livestreams!

  • Just worked through the first assignment.  Although I can read simple music, very slowly there are times when I get confused, so often refer to tab. Anyway this course is great.  Start off simple and onto more complex.

(first assignment). Still working best way to upload exercises but anyway here is my vid. Like the other people encourage you to at least tape yourself.  Weird how putting a camera  in front suddenly makes you nervous, important to get used to this to later on to can evaluate yourself.

JOHN ANDERSON great job breaking through that initial nervousness and going ahead with the recording! We all get nervous when the camera is turned on - even the most seasoned professionals. The trick is to just go ahead and do it, just like you have!

One thing though - due to how the permissions were set on YouTube, I can't watch the video. It's currently set to "private", meaning that only you can see it when logged into your account.

If you could change it to "unlisted" instead, that would mean it would still not show up on your profile or in any searches, but it could be watched here on the forums.

Mircea , These lessons came at the best time. I literally just purchased my first guitar and played my first song 😉.  I really liked how you explained the notes and where they are on the staff compared to the fret board. I have to admit, I was singing each note (GGDD etc) as I played. I'm looking forward to the remaining sessions.

Julia this is great! Wonderful job here.

On the written part, there was just a little mistake in one of the exercises (the key signature we're in means that note would be a D sharp). Apart from that, everything was perfect!

On the recorded part, that was just perfect! No mistakes there at all.

Congratulations for this and hope to see you in future livestreams and on the forums!

Vilio Celli That might be a good idea as an add on - we might not have time to handle it during this course, but I might be able to squeeze a short livestream about it one of these weeks!

Desi Husband Great job, Desi! Almost perfect 😀 Just a little mistake in exercise 1c, measure three: The first note was not a C sharp. It would have required another ledger line to make it a C sharp. Otherwise, you did everything perfectly!

Barry van de Graaf This is perfect! Congratulations, Barry - wonderful job! 😁🎉

One comment: this is not a mistake, but when you write the low E, below the 3rd ledger line, given that it is the lowest note on the guitar, you would almost always give it a downward stem, rather than an upward stem. The upward stem is not wrong though!

  • Further to last weeks assignment over the past couple of days I have set my guitar to one side,  picked up  a really really simple music pieces (grade 1), and just read through a the piece, reading the notes out loud. I do this with a metronome set slow.  Only 5 or 6 minutes.  It makes me think and concentrate. I think the ticks of the metronome help too.  Of course there are mistakes but as soon as I do it I recognise it.  Occasionally double checking things.  I don't know if anyone else does this but it's helping me. Looking forward to tonights class I will be able to make it!!
