BWV1007 Prelude

I'm inspired to learn to famous Prelude after listening so many great performances. I'm not really familiar with Bach's music but I noticed in the music there is always a rest between the bass notes. Does this mean the whole appregio should be played as a melody then letting them ring over?

Or the rest doesn't really mean anything for the guitar and we can let the bass ring over? Thanks!

This is written for a cello. You will understand the piece a lot more if you look at a cello score in addition to a guitar transcrption.

Martha Kreipke thanks Martha, it doesn't appear on the original. It seems more of the choice of the arranger probably to adjust for the guitar. Thanks!
