Kick-Off for the Happy Holidays Challenge! 🎄

Happy Holidays on tonebase LIVE, we invite you to share your pieces that are near and dear to you in this festive time of the year! May it be a classical that piece that you connect with the celebratory spirit of the holiday season or a traditional piece from your country for this time of the year, this community activity shines a light on that repertoire and brings us all closer together as a community! We will run through the forum, talk about the timeline and example pieces and maybe even share an eggnog together! Happy holidays and happy Practice!

I will run through the dedicated Forum for the Community Challenge, run through the timeline and maybe share my first eggnog of the year with you! Come and participate, I especially would love to hear some traditional music from your countries!

Looking forward to you! 🎄

Martin Had to take break for a month, but I'm back now and very excited for this new challenge as I will be participating on both🎸🎹.  Will be there at the kick-off Monday and watch party.  Enjoyed the first hour of the concert on Saturday that I was able to watch.  You and everyone sounded amazing!

They haven't announced in the piano forums yet but now I know it's coming...🎉

  • I don't celebrate Christmas - and I might not be the only one.  Please understand that this type of challenge does not help everyone at this season.  To those of you who do connect - enjoy!

For me, this music actually brings up painful memories when growing up of being required to participate in Christmas pageants at school. Thank you for understanding.

Martha Kreipke I had similar thoughts, Martha. Perhaps in the future Tonebase might choose to make this a more inclusive 'seasonal' challenge?

    • Martha Kreipke David Krupka I agree with David. While my family and I do celebrate Christmas, and I am planning to participate in the challenge, I do want as many people as possible to feel included. Also, it gives me (and others) even more opportunity to learn about cultures other than my own. Is there a reason the name and scope of the challenge could not be changed this year?

      Martha Kreipke David Krupka

Dear Martha, I sincerely want to apologize if we hurt anybody with our choice of topic for that Community Challenge, we certainly didn't intend to exclude or offend anybody, but obviously didn't anticipate that it could happen anyway and for that, I am truly sorry. I second Eric Phillips and David Krupka motion to find a seasonal wording that is appropriate for a divers community as ours! I am open for suggestions via DM!

Martha Kreipke My family and I do celebrate Christmas but consider it a cultural celebration rather than a religious celebration. Its origin was a winter celebration to 'lighten' the bleak winter months. It is in that spirit that we celebrate it. Perhaps that would help.
