  • This is an update of Pavana, which I have continued to work on. I think this piece is my biggest takeaway from this challenge (at least so far). Before this, I knew the piece and liked it, but now it feel as though it has become a friend for life.

The score I used (which I attached) does have a simpler way of playing the first full measure of the B section. It's from a Tarrega book that I bought in Spain, and the introduction of the book claims that all pieces are from unedited originals, so I'm going to say that MY score is correct, not the one Martin attached. 🙂 One thing is certain - the way I'm playing it is easier! I personally don't think the music suffers at all from the simplification.

Eric Phillips Very nice Eric!! As you know, I like that song very much ... and your version too, especially the pizzicato!! Simplification is always a good idea and music does not suffer, if you do it with taste, like you did.

    • Olli Here is a picture of the book cover. I only have one volume. I bought it in Madrid about 25 years ago.

    • Paul Kennedy Thank you, Paul! As I said above, my inspiration to play it came from Thomas, and maybe now that is being passed on to you. That's what is so great about these challenges!

    • Martin Thanks, Martin! I also saw Uros Baric simply play the third beat of measure 10 without the ornament, which is great too.

    • Olli  you are back with bells on 🔔 ! Great playing, as always. And all the great pieces. So beautiful. The capriccio is truly my favorite Tarrega piece, alongside with some of the miniature preludes…
