There are some Challenges that should be annual reoccurrences; Bach, Sor, Transcriptions.
I would be interested in Modern music (20th and 21st C.), Renaissance, Song and Dance could be interesting (that could include Renaissance dances, Baroque suites sans preludes I suppose, Schubert and Opera transcriptions, Giuliani's Rossinianas, Sor Variations, Pieces from David Starobin's 'New Dance' recording and Piazzola tango's, to name a few).

A couple other ideas...
Unfinished Business - work on pieces that you began a while ago but never got around to finishing
Monsters of Nylon - pieces that are either so difficult or long and intricate that you know you you won't be able to finish it in one challenge, but at least you'll stop putting it off and get started on it. Who knows, you might be surprised at how much progress you make!
Homegrown Heroes - A piece or pieces written by a composer from your hometown (from any era)

I like the idea that martin suggested to expand the Celtic Music to a World Music Challenge focused on compositions which utilize regional folkloric themes and rhythms. I find simply Celtic music might limit participation.
Other Challenge ideas that have been suggested that would also appeal to me are:
1. 20st/21st Contemporary compositions
2. Lesser-Known Compositions
3. That gran composition you always wanted to tackle.
4. Etudes
5. Song & Dance

Another more flexible idea would be for the player to select an "Era" or "Style" of his/her choice and only practice/play pieces in that category for the Challenge. It would be like planning a certain group/section (2 or 3) of pieces for a recital program that would includes a few pieces from each of the Categories or Centuries; but for the Challenge--pick one.
The player would identify the Era or Style chosen in the Forum thread for the Challenge and stay within that guideline.
This approach would make all players happy and in more control while remaining disciplined.

We appreciate your valuable suggestions and will certainly consider them for our upcoming community challenges! One idea that I would like to explore now is a World Music Challenge, where you can choose classical guitar pieces from regions that inspire you musically, or even showcase the traditional music of your home country. This would be a great opportunity for everyone to explore diverse musical styles and connect with fellow classical guitarists in the tonebase community. Thank you again for your input, and we hope to see you participate in the challenge!
