Isaac Bustos: Un Dia de Noviembre

This will be our an interactive Livestream, so let me attach all the info needed for this exciting new tonebase LIVE format!

What is this?

This interactive Livestream is our take on the cohort based learning model. We are used to learn in groups, we do that in school and in university, we do that when we interact in a community and learn from different perspectives. With new developments in online video communication software, we can bring this concept into tonebase and explore a new form of how you interact with our fantastic community!

What do I need?

  1. We are going to use ZOOM for the interactive part of Livestream (the same piece of software that we have been using for the Virtual Hangouts). While it is not necessary to download the software, I would recommend it as it runs more stable as the browser version. In order to have the best audio quality, you can activate the option to Preserve Original Sound, here you find the documentation on how to activate that.
  2. It's best to prepare for that lesson to get the most out of it in the interactive part! So listen to some of our fantastic release on

How does this take place?

  1. Simply watch the Livestream at the time indicated in the Live Calender!
  2. At the end of the approx. 25-35min Livestream, I will share a ZOOM Link in the Chat. Click on that link, it will take you to our ZOOM Cohort Based Course
  3. In the Zoom Call, we will get into greater depth about challenging passages of that piece, we can discuss certain fingering possibilities TOGETHER and YOU can get a full masterclass experience if you decide to take part with audio and video (not necessarily needed, more on that below)!

Why?

  • Because we want to offer a place where true interaction can take place!
  • Because we want you to have the full masterclass experience!
  • Because we want you to truly engage with our inspiring and motivational community!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do I need to watch the Livestream before the interactive class?

While it is not mandatory to watch the Livestream, the link to the class will be only shared in the chat of the Livestream! As the contents of the Livestream are going to be interactively worked on and discussed, it's a great opportunity to get you up and running on that topic!

I want to be there and watch, but I don't feel comfortable taking part actively and share my audio and video. Can I still participate?

Of course! You can still enter the ZOOM class without audio and video. Though I highly recommend to see this Livestream more as university group lesson and - more importantly - a chance to have a meaningful interaction not only with me but with fellow tonebase users!

  • Martin Thank you Martin. It was difficult to me to play in front of other people. I have to get rid of the fear, it should be a nice time for me, but nothing I can do, I suppose playing more often should help. I will keep an eye in the future for this kind of activities. Thank you. Javier

  • Khiem Nguyen Javier Elizondo Marilyn I just watched this livestream and you all played so beautifully! Isaac seems to be such a great teacher with many good insights for all of us. Now, I better go play this piece at least once before November is gone!

    • Eric Phillips thank you so much for your kind support, Eric!

Isaac is a wonderful teacher. He helped me to understand the music much more thoroughly, and he made practicing seem easy and really fun by breaking things down to one or few notes a time. Now I realize that this piece is technically and musically very hard to master, it offers many challenges. I have a very long way to tackles different aspects. And I really enjoy the process.

Javier and Marilyn played so beautifully. Especially, Marilyn's story about her connection to the piece and that she has been playing this piece for years is so fascinating. You can recognize the deep emotional connection of Marilyn to the piece by listening to her playing.

Khiem Nguyen You did a great job Khiem, being (as usual, haha) the first one to perform and to implement his ideas so well!

    • Martin thank you a lot, Martin for your support :). I am so much a beginer but just with a brave attitude to dare to perform and get good feedbacks from the masters like from you and Isaac and from the community to improve. I am eager to continue the learning journey, though it is very difficult. A fact I realize it that you easily tend to think that you play okay until you hear your own recording again, hehe. Today I heard my yesterday's recording with Isaac and I realize how loud my accompaniments were, and so on many more points Isaac showed me. I will sit down and refine this piece diligently :)

  • I really enjoyed this workshop and learned a lot. This piece is on my list of pieces to learn in the next year, and I know this will help me start from a position of knowledge. Congratulations to all the participants in the master class. You did great.

Would it be possible to plan a similar program with Isaac on Julia Florida?
