I have a few questions to start for the live stream:

    1.  On page 5, measure 1 (see above), this is a difficult stretch for my small left hand.  I also tried playing it in VI position, but that affected smooth continuity of Arpeggio.  Is it okay musically to simply Omit the high B Flat on the E string?

    2.  Do you actively mute (Damp) strings sounding where there are "Rests" indicated in Segovia's version in the piece?

    3.  Do you follow Segovia's fingerings for shifts (in the various Scaler passages) to keep notes on the "G" string? ( Assumed to keep timbre consistent)

    Thanks TY!!!

TY: your GFA version is amazing, it can still actually move me to tears.

    You are world class, bravo!

    Qs:

-what compromises/alterations did you make to make it work for you?

-what 2 phrases are the most beautiful phrases from this piece to you and why?

-can a guitar play this piece better than a violin? why, why not?

    Thanks,

    Brooke

  • Watching the live stream after the fact and, wow…

I’m moved to tears at Ty’s explanation of how he connected his grandfather’s death with the Chaconne.
I had that EXACT same feeling but it was over the loss of my brother, sister, and father. This is the genius of Bach! He SPOKE to us with the same message using only music—language that transcended our spoken languages of Chinese or English. Just amazing. Thank you, Ty!!!
