“It has been a long time since I did the stroll” .. and these aren’t either… and seemingly “it’s a lonely lonely time” … here among the monsters..Monsters are not really compatible with one month challenges and strolls.

These are my new year resolution's. Taking them all in one shot I feel qualify to a Monster assignment. Mistakes and glitches and things that not come out as intended, yes, ..I probably could do and wish to do better, but for real life you are not really better than your first shot (provided you are sufficiently warmed up)

0:00 Gracias a la vida. To and in honor of my father who I just visited for what I think his last birthday

2:20 In a sentimental mood. Also thoughts to my father and to the summerhouse , which has been in the family for 85 years. Lots of happy moments with grand parents, soccer with local kids, girlfriends, friends, wives, children, grandchildren.. and not least with my guitar.
Prizes and taxes are so high now so we probably must give the house up , so sentimental about maybe my last outdoor performance there

5:45 This years Monster beauty Turina Sonata . In mvt  3 I blow 2 of 3 of a particular fast scale going to 3 and 4 string, I have to remember and concentrate to move arm or wrist just in that moment. I will get that. Actually  I think 1  and 2 are lot more difficult, in 3 you just have to learn to concentrate more, which of course may be difficult after 15 min.
(PS I had to do a short 30 s cut, hardly  noticeable, between 2 and 3 mvt because my computer screen turned black)

    • Lars Kjøller-Hansen Welcome back and glad you joined the Monsters of Nylon Challenge.  Loved your rendition of In a  Sentimental Mood, very jazzy and bluesy.  Also worked well in the beautiful outdoor environment.  The Turina Sonata was also nice to hear, definitely a monster of nylon piece.

Dale Needles  Wai . Thank you for the very nice words, and your patience😉. My wife told me no one would listen to such a long submission.

A small but exclusive club in this challenge 😊, spanning from Hong Kong thru Baltic Sea to California

Bravo and thanks for this great concert

1 - Your wife is wrong, I did listen to the full concert twice 👍

2- I hope you are also wrong and that you will enjoy many more birthdays with your father 😉

Again, thanks for sharing this beautiful music

    • Lars Kjøller-Hansen Thank you so much for sharing so much beauty—your music and your surroundings!  I enjoyed it all.   The older I get the more grateful I am for the gifts of nature and harmony.  During Covid I worked on In A Sentimental Mood with Jason.  I enjoyed the process of learning the piece, but I was rhythmically challenged!  You gave a very convincing performance!  What is that body of water behind you?

    • Lars Kjøller-Hansen congratulations with this concert you were so kind to share with us. I can imagine you are somewhat sentimental with having to give up this beautiful place by the sea (?)

It’s actually a great achievement to play a 15 minute recital of this quality in one take. Nice combination of pieces and quite good sound, too,  for an open air recording! No wonder at the end there is some fatigue, but you keep the energy going. Thank you Lars!

Marilyn Blodget Thank you for watching, listening and your kind words.

The water is the Baltic Sea looking east. (Årsdale, Bornholm. Denmark)  The Nordstream incident (Sabotage Russian Gaspipes) a year ago was not more than 15 miles away .

In a Sentimental Mood , Vieaux has been on my to do list for some time.. and I actually watched all your submissions and Jason’s comments on Artistworks before starting. Actually I have watched and enjoyed most of your Artistworks submissions and hope you will continue there also. We seem to share taste of what we want to play.. although I am not yet educated and with enough insight  to really go for e.g Bach and older pieces.

joosje Thank you for interest, concern, listening and kind words. It is the Baltic Sea looking east from Årsdale, Bornholm, Denmark, towards Baltic countries and the Nordstream gaspipes. Yes, I was really determined and stressed with slight nausea and abdominal  pain, sentimental feelings and slightly wet eyes at this recording , perhaps my last chance.

Lars Kjøller-Hansen Beautiful performance, Lars. And it is great to see you again, welcome back. Very nice performance of Gracias a la vida and In a Sentimental Mood - are you improvising or is that an arrangement? Which ever it is a great performance. Taking on the Turina Sonata after 6 minutes of playing is quite a challenge in and of itself, but you did a great job. Bravo!

I am sorry to hear of your father's circumstances and the possible loss of your summer home. I hope all goes well with your father whatever the circumstances. I also hope you are able to come thru this strong as well. Take care.

Jack Stewart Thank you for all your kind and thoughtful comments. And for your deep, fair and honest engagement in the forum and challenges

in a sentimental mood It is an arrangement, I wish I was so good that I could improvise it.

BTW I endorse your thoughts that the challenges should not be for perfect performances but demonstrating the travel against the best you can achieve by the moment. However, to make a lot of videos or just one often can be difficult  for many  with daytime jobs

Amazing! Truly fitting of a monster challenge. I enjoyed all different pieces and particularly like the In a Sentimental Mood. Great choice of playing outdoor and I can even hear birds at the background and almost smell the sea too.

don Thank you, Don. I really like to play outdoor, though a bit challenging with tunings at times.

I use to sit on a bench more close to and overlooking the sea. Love it.
