Does anyone put any cloth or some protective sleeve over your guitar..
..when you play to avoid sweat staining the finish? I notice smudges on my guitar after my practice session. While you can still wipe it off but not sure if it will damage the French polish over long term and if anyone has interesting ideas on how to avoid it.

I have been using the Abel armrest. It is a little pricey ($75) but gives my arm a smooth surface and keeps it off the guitar body.

Hi Don. Look up “guitar sleeve” I find it great for protecting the top and allows movement of your arm without sticking. A cut off sock works too. Other than that the armrest is a great accessory and a pleasure in the summer when you don’t want the sweaty sleeve.

Orson George Aubrey thank you. The arm rest looks interesting but wouldn't that messes up with your position of the arm? I experimented with an arm sleeve before but it isn't exactly water proof but I shouldnt be playing in that weather when the sweat gets through the sleeves I guess.

If you didn’t get on with the sleeve I’d definitely look into the armrest, your arm will micro adjust to the slightly different position like when you play a different guitar and the guitar top will be free from any dampening from the arm so might sound better too.

I find that the angle that it slopes away from the guitar does not seem to raise my arm that much. I find it is more comfortable than the edge of the guitar, and it is easy to move my arm to change my RH attack on the strings. I’ve attached a photo. Hope you can see. It.
