Are you confused by chromatic harmony? Do you glaze over when someone starts explaining it to you? Who cares what a French 6th is anyway, right? You may be surprised to learn that chromatic harmony is much more logical and straight forward than some people make it seem. In this easy-to-follow step-by-step guide, you’ll taken through all the basics of chromatic harmony. The livestream will be illustrated by examples from the guitar repertoire and you’ll be able to download information sheets to remind you where the chords are used and how they are constructed. I’ll cover diminished 7ths, borrowed chords, chords of the augmented 6th, the Neapolitan 6th, and secondary dominants. It will be a fun session - I love this stuff!

Hi, Steve. I´m not at home and, unfortunately I won´t be able to join today. In fact, I´ll be watching the livesteam next week. WIFI in my current location is a nightmare. My questions:
- Any examples of Neapolitan 6th in a major context?
- Any comments on chromatic mediant use by the classical composers (Giuliani etc), such as the use of the C or F major chords in A major context, for example?
- Do you know John Duarte´s harmony book? I found it very interesting.
- I think the use of particular augmented 6th chords on guitar is due to fingering and technical reasons more than trying to use, say, the italian or german or whatever in any given moment. Do you agree?
