Making the piece your own - transcribe annotate for color, timbre, dynamics, decorations, finger plans, position decisions etc.

If we could have a topic that helps us finesse a written score to bring our musicality to it, that would be great.  If this could be at the early intermediate (Level3/4) level, that would be super helpful

Fantastic, do you have a specific piece in mind? Then we could combine that topic with a live lesson!

  • Martin,  was thinking more as a general topic for an early intermediate who can read the music and maybe play it, but doesn't necessarily get the musicality without a teacher - the fingering both right and left hands, the tone, timber, dynamics.  What can be flexible(e.g. ornamentations) and what is not(maybe the time signature) - especially for someone who is more exposed to a different music system like Indian where things are more like jazz.

Best practices in approach, working out and then the actual transcribing on your score to make it your own.  If you think a particular piece is good we coud do that.

Or something from my repertoire that I need to finish -

e.g. M. Ponce Prelude in D Minor or Scarlatti Sonata Kp. 34 for my ABRSM exams.
