"Unlocking the power of your mind" for practice, performance and more! (with Nicolas Namoradze)

This session focuses on mental practice and how to harness its powers for everything from the first steps in learning a piece of music to performing on stage. Topics to be covered include enhancing one’s practice with techniques such as audiation and visualization, getting into (and staying in) the “zone,” building mental resilience, and using meditation and mindfulness to relieve stress and sharpen concentration.

  • WOW!  I am really looking forward to this session.  I am currently reading "Your Brain on Art - How the Arts Transform Us" by Susan Magsamen and Ivy Ross. This is an introduction fo the field of neuroarts (neuroaesthetics) and seems related to the topic here.

  • I would like to learn more about how audiation and visualization may be used effectively before the first note is played when practicing or performing.  Also, tips for staying focused when playing a long piece.

I will try to attend despite the time zone difference. I’m based in australia east cost and it would appear that I will have to tune in at 3:00 am my local time.

I would be interested in your comments about memorization.  This is a real challenge for me!

    Also, performance anxiety.
