Interactive Masterclass with Mircea Gogoncea

Are you looking for guidance on a speciifc piece or passage? Join me on on my first interactive masterclass. For today's Interactive Masterclass, you can reserve a 15-minute spot!

  1. Bill Young
  2. Jorge
  3. Olli
  4. Dominic
  5. joosje
  6. Jack Stewart

This will be an interactive Livestream. For those of you who haven't taken part in one of these before, allow me to explain the format.

WHAT DO I NEED?

  1. We are going to use ZOOM for the interactive portion of this Livestream. While it is not necessary to download the software, I would recommend that you do, as it is more stable than the browser version. In order to have the best audio quality, you can activate Original Sound option. Click here for help with achieving this.

HOW DOES THIS TAKE PLACE?

  1. Simply watch the Livestream at the time indicated in the Live Calendar.
  2. During the livestream, I will share a ZOOM Link in the chat. Click on that link, and it will take you to our ZOOM meeting.
  3. In the Zoom Call, we will get into greater depth about a piece or passage of your choosing.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

I want to be there and watch, but I don't feel comfortable taking part actively and share my audio and video. Can I still participate?

Of course! You can still enter the ZOOM class without audio and video. Though I highly recommend to see this Livestream more as university group lesson and - more importantly - a chance to have a meaningful interaction not only with me but with fellow tonebase users!

I want to participate with audio & video, but I don't like to be recorded.

The interactive class will not be recorded! In order to allow meaningful interaction to happen, we create this safe space, where you can fully immerse into a class. No single moment of the interactive class will be shared outside that virtual room! However, the Livestream prior to the interactive class will be recorded as usual and thus accessible after the Livestream happened.

LET US KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, WE LOVE HEARING FROM YOU!

  • I would love to attend this, but I cannot join in until about fifty minutes after it starts. Would it be possible for me to take the fourth time slot (or fifth if you are going beyond the four slots listed)? If that is not possible, I completely understand. If it is possible, I’d like to play Schumann’s Traumerei. Thanks!

    • Mircea Thanks so much, Mircea! I really appreciate you accommodating me. I teach a class until 2:44 EST, so I will join the Zoom as quickly as I can after that.

I am playing a transcription of Traumerei (obviously). I used Tarrega's transcription as a starting point, but changed several things in it. I do not have a score with exactly what I'm playing, but Tarrega's transcription is attached.

Eric Phillips Just wanted to let you know, since we got a few other participants now, I've placed you in at no. 6 for Wednesday, so your turn should come after 3pm EST - possibly even after 3:30 PST. Feel free to join whenever you can before that, though!

    • Mircea I actually need to leave to get my daughter no later than 3:25 EST, so I think it best that I just give up my spot for someone else who has more flexibility/availability. Will there possibly be more video masterclasses that I could submit a video for? (If not, no worries.)

Whoever is next in line (Jack Stewart ?)can have my spot.

Eric Phillips Got it! Yes, there will be others soon. I don't know exactly when, but at some point in the next few weeks, or early February.

Bill Young Wonderful, Bill! Looking forward to seeing you there.

Do you know what you will be playing? Not obligatory to tell me in advance but it would help for me to look up the score, etc 👍

    • Mircea I would like to try Sor's Minuet in A Major, Op. 11, No. 6.  A piece that several Tonebase members have performed recently.

I would like to focus on the two "p i m a" arpeggio sections,  Any tips on how to play them evenly and up to speed.  Since this is ascending arpeggio, would you play these using full planting instead of sequential planting? I have seen some players that can play super fasr arpeggios with no planting whatsoever.  Would love to hear your thoughts.

If there is time, I would like to get some tips on smooth LH shifting on HVL's coda from Mazurka-Choro.

      Thanks,

      Bill
