    Berceuse, Antón Garcia Abril

Mi second (and last, obviously) contribution to this incredible group exercise. The piece is "Berceuse", from Antón Garcia Abril (1933 - 2021). I had a great time with all of you. Thanks.

👉 The score was in an iPad, in a stand, with the camera. You will note some "earthquakes" in the pages turn... 😄 👈

Emma Thanks for your kindness. Emma! You're right: Antón Garcia Abril died in march, 17, last year. He has many pieces for guitar, some of them very tradicional and others with a contemporary flavour... 🙂

Martin My second video of Cádiz, it has been less than a week from the first and the rhythm and measurement of the last part is better, so here it is before this wonderful challenge ends. Still a long way to go to polish, and make it more clean and beautiful. I am practising slurs on the side, and need to go back to slow practice.

    • Emma Beautiful, Emma! I love the moments where the melody rises up and you do a slight ritardando (like at 1:00 for example). I also love the strong rhythm of the section that starts at 2:05.

ivan paolo Thanks for inviting me to play a duet with you, this was my first time playing with other people online, it was fun! But after practicing this piece for 3 days straight, my hands became F.Sore. 😅

ivan paolo Pretty amazing Ivan (and Stephen and Wai). The playing was very expressive and balanced. Great Job!

Did you record each separately or together over zoom or other?

Rodrigo En los Trigales - final Spain update

I apparently forgot to check the mic levels (it resets after every video) so there is some clipping at loud volumes. My apologies.

I believe this is an improvement. Though there are areas that have become problematic that weren't before, overall it is a little better. I still hope to make a 'finished' recording at some point.

Jack Stewart wow Jack! such a complicated piece! Your interpretation is full of energy and contrast. I can also perceive the phases. You have this one too! I love the first part especially and the end you nailed it! I imagine myself getting it wrong multiple times. Big achievement. Congratulations!!!

    • Jack Stewart This is superb, Jack! You are now playing two of the greatest and most challenging pieces in the entire repertoire. That is quite an accomplishment. And I like that they are two pieces that aren’t overplayed.

Emma Thanks Emma. Your comments are very encouraging.

Unfortunately, I don't have to imagine me getting it wrong multiple times. I did that and then some!
