Re: Who are your Guitar Heroes?
@Marilyn Blodget Vidovic is remarkable. There's a college nearby that draws in some significant talent for recitals and usually they make me very motivated to play.…

Re: Who are your Guitar Heroes?
@Gabriel She is fantastic. You may already be aware but she has a couple of workshops recorded here and she ran a two-week intensive that was amazing. She genuinely changed the way I approach music.

Re: Week 2: Strings Attached 🎸
@Wai Thanks Wai. The more I work like this the more I like it. It really makes me understand the music which helps me remember it and probably play it better as well.

Re: Week 2: Strings Attached 🎸
Here's the full a section for Ponce's Por Ti Mi Corazon. It's going slow, but I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along and going phrase by phrase has really helped me I think.…

Re: Week 2: Strings Attached 🎸
@David Krupka Thanks, David. I did some more research and it looks like these were actually arranged by Ponce for guitar and then fingered by Segovia, but I'm sure he did his thing to it.…

Re: Week 2: Strings Attached 🎸
@Derek Thanks, Derek. I think I know the recording. Wasn't it an all-Ponce disk? And they are surprisingly challenging for such short and sweet pieces, at least for me.

Re: Week 2: Strings Attached 🎸
@Michael Shirk His bass lines really are great. I love how prominent they are in pieces like the first Brandenbug concerto. It's like a rock song.

Re: Week 2: Strings Attached 🎸
@Derek Nice, Derek. The interesting thing about these challenges is hearing pieces that I'm not familiar with. Now you and Jack are both playing Rameau. Very cool.

@Wai These are really good Wai. This is a great set. I've only heard a few of the "standards" of Sanz so it's nice to hear more.

@Michael Shirk I know exactly the sound you're talking about and I think the muted strings capture it really well. Nicely done.

@Calin Lupa Very nice performance Calin. I don't hear this as much as some of his others so this was good to hear again.

Re: Who are your Guitar Heroes?
Not the most original choices, but I'd say Segovia and Bream. What they did to expand the repertoire and bring legitimacy to the instrument changed everything. Not too shabby players either. 😉
